Job Overview
South Central Diesel is looking for a Fuel Injection Technician to join our team.
This is a hands-on position working with diesel fuel injection pumps and mechanical and common rail injectors throughout the rebuilding process. The technician will disassemble, clean, inspect, rebuild, assemble, calibrate, and test fuel system components using specialized tools and testing equipment.
Previous diesel fuel injection experience is a plus, but we are also interested in candidates with a strong mechanical background who are willing to learn. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys detailed mechanical work, problem solving, and working with their hands.
Responsibilities
- Disassemble diesel fuel injection pumps and injectors
- Clean and prepare components for inspection and rebuilding
- Inspect parts for wear, damage, corrosion, and other potential issues
- Determine which components can be reused and which require replacement
- Reassemble and rebuild fuel injection components according to proper procedures and specifications
- Use specialized tools and industry-leading equipment throughout the rebuild process
- Calibrate and test rebuilt components to verify proper operation and performance
- Follow established quality control procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Properly document work performed when required
- Troubleshoot fuel system components and identify potential causes of failure
- Work with other technicians and team members to complete jobs accurately and efficiently
- Follow shop safety procedures and properly care for tools and equipment
Skills
- Strong mechanical skills
- Must have basic set of tools
- Must be physically able to frequently lift 50+ lbs and be on your feet for extended periods throughout the day
- Comfortable working with small, detailed mechanical components
- Ability to use hand tools, measuring tools, and specialized shop equipment
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedures
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Dependable and able to work as part of a team
- Willingness to learn diesel fuel injection systems and new equipment
- Ability to keep a clean and organized workspace
- Diesel, automotive, agricultural, heavy equipment, machining, or other mechanical experience is preferred
- Previous diesel fuel injection experience is a plus, but not required for the right candidate
