Supervisor III, Operations - Mine Ops
POSITION OVERVIEW
Supervision of mining and haulage crews in open pit mining environment. Responsibilities include helping coordinate daily activities of personnel to foster a safe working environment by working closely with Mine Maintenance, Mine Engineering, and Mill Processing to ensure production is on track.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ensure that forecasted tonnage, copper grade and overall production goals are met in a safe and efficient manner.
Conducting pre-shift tailgate meetings to review daily assignments, and company/ department policies and procedures as needed.
Ensure that all mine equipment is operated in a safe, productive, and cost-effective manner.
Communicate goals and key performance indicators to employees and monitor their development in accomplishing these goals.
Evaluation of employees while working closely with the training department, to develop training needs analysis of operators.
Coordination of daily activities of the Mine Operations (Drilling, blasting, loading, haulage activities), along with checking and reporting pit conditions (roads, tiedowns, berms and dumps, etc.)
Daily tracking of employee scheduled hours worked, absenteeism, vacations and any other schedule related items.
Interact with workforce, Human Resources, Safety, etc. to ensure compliance with established company policies.
Enforcement of non-compliance of company policies or standards, enforcing progressive disciplinary steps as needed.
Identification of areas for improvement within the mine, formulating project schedule and resources needed to complete objectives.
Review and enter work orders
Ensure employee Health and Safety through compliance with all safety and Mine regulations, as well as company policies
Prepare as needed any accident/ incident reports that happen during shift.
Ensure transportation vans and buses are checked and ready for on-coming shift
Must be able to give a detailed turn over to the supervisors coming next on shift
Conduct safety observations and area inspections as required by Safety and Health department
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Basic ability to navigate computer and programs such as MS Office skills in Word, Outlook, Excel and SAP.
Must be able to multitask and manage multiple projects and have a positive attitude for both safety environmental.
Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
Knowledgeable in Health and & Safety as well as Mine Regulations.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment under pressure.
Must be open to obtain necessary training to improve and develop new skills.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
5 plus years mining experience.
Previous supervisory experience is a plus, but is not required.

5 years mining experience preferred.
Previous supervisory experience is a plus, but is not required.
