Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Dispatcher Supervisor to lead our transportation operations team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the coordination and dispatching of freight and vehicle movements, ensuring seamless communication between drivers, clients, and internal departments. Your leadership will drive efficiency in road transportation operations, optimize logistics workflows, and uphold compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for streamlining supply chain processes to deliver exceptional customer service.

Shift Hours: Monday- Friday, 6:00 a.m.-3 :00 p.m.

Duties

Supervise daily dispatch activities, ensuring timely and accurate allocation of freight and vehicle routes using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and Vehicle Dispatch Software.
Coordinate with drivers, warehouse staff, and clients via multi-line phone systems and internal communication platforms to facilitate smooth operations.
Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and improve transportation planning efficiency.
Manage phone call traffic with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette while addressing inquiries related to shipping & receiving, freight status, or scheduling adjustments.
Oversee compliance with DOT regulations and safety standards during all road transportation operations.
Maintain detailed records of dispatch activities, data entry logs, shipping documentation, and incident reports using systems like SyteLine and AS400.
Analyze operational data to identify areas for process improvement, cost reduction, or service enhancement within logistics workflows.
Lead training sessions for team members on vehicle dispatch procedures, logistics software tools such as Fleet Management systems and Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and organizational best practices.

Experience

Proven experience in dispatching within a logistics or supply chain environment, preferably involving third-party logistics (3PL) providers or fleet management.
Strong knowledge of road transportation operations, freight management, shipping & receiving procedures, and vehicle dispatch software.
Familiarity with GIS, GPS tracking technology, and transportation planning tools to optimize routing strategies.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently using Microsoft Office applications like Excel and Word for reporting purposes.
Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—and the ability to handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism.
Experience working within DOT regulations and safety standards to ensure compliance during all transportation activities.
Organizational skills with a focus on data entry accuracy, record keeping, and analysis of operational metrics using systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or AS400.
