Role Overview
As Chief Editor & Lead Videographer, you’ll oversee the post-production process at Martin Media, ensuring that all edits meet our high creative standards. You’ll edit our most complex projects, VIP client work, wedding films, brand storytelling, and interview-based videos—while managing the editing workload across our team. You’ll also be a lead shooter on high-priority shoots, including weddings, and will help execute our visual vision on-location.
This is a creative-first role that demands a strong visual eye, technical editing skill, leadership in team communication, and a commitment to telling stories that matter. You’ll work closely with Josiah on storyboarding, provide feedback and training to remote editors, and help lead the creative direction for our most important clients.
Key Responsibilities
Post-Production Oversight
- Lead editor for high-touch, complex, or narrative-driven projects (e.g., VIP clients, weddings, interviews)
- Review and revise edits from other editors to ensure creative alignment and technical excellence
- Oversee and train remote editor(s), including task assignments, revisions, and stylistic guidance
- Handle internal and external feedback to refine deliverables quickly and professionally
- Create thumbnails, brochures, and graphic assets as needed
Creative and Technical Execution
- Edit in Adobe Premiere Pro with strong skills in Photoshop and Lightroom
- Uphold our signature cinematic style and storytelling quality
- Stay current with editing trends and innovations, including the use of AI tools to improve workflow, creativity, and output quality
- Innovate editing workflows and maintain well-organized project files
- Ensure projects meet deadlines without sacrificing creativity or quality
Videography and Production
- Act as lead shooter on video projects, with or without Josiah present
- Collaborate on shot lists, visual concepts, and location planning
- Operate drone (Part 107 certification preferred)
- Capture weddings and events with professionalism and sensitivity
Team Contribution
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with other team members and contractors
- Contribute creative ideas during pre-production and storyboarding
- Take initiative on tasks and hold high personal standards for every project
- Think critically, solve problems independently, and adapt in fast-moving situations
Qualifications
Required:
- 3–5+ years of professional video editing and/or videography experience
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Lightroom
- Experience leading or mentoring other editors or creatives
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and creative vision
- Ability to film in solo or team settings with minimal supervision
- Local to Kenai/Soldotna (or willing to relocate)
Preferred:
- Experience filming weddings or event-based storytelling
- Drone pilot certification or experience
- Background in documentary or brand storytelling
Compensation and Perks
