Position Summary
The Telemetry Technician provides safe, expedient, cost-effective constant visual observation of the telemetry monitor on the unit.
A Telemetry Technician participates in cardiac rhythm identification and notification to the assigned Nurse for appropriate action.
Responsibilities
Telemetry Technicians are required to document in the electronic and/or paper medical record factual, accurate, complete, timely, legal information regarding cardiac rhythms for the patients on telemetry.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide observation of cardiac rhythms appropriate to the patient population.
Participates in the identification of life threatening arrhythmias or changes in the patient cardiac rhythm and patient alarms.
Participates in the reporting to with the Nurse regarding any changes in the patient cardiac rhythm.
Continually seeks to improve quality of services provided and actively participates in unit-based as well as hospital and/or quality initiatives.
Maintains, tracks and cleans transmitters, cables, monitors, etc. after each patient use.
Minimum Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent GED.
American Heart Association (AHA) HeartSaver Certification.
Completion of a rhythm identification training program within 30 days.
Pay Range
$18.00 - $21.12
