The Opportunity

The Assistant Manager at Waterman is a leader who earns it on the floor. This is not a desk role or a title without teeth. You will sell alongside your team, model the Waterman fitting process, and hold the standard when the Store Manager is not in the building. If you are someone who leads by example, takes ownership naturally, and genuinely wants to develop the people around you, this role was built for you.

You Are a Seller First

Great Assistant Managers at Waterman do not manage from a distance — they produce. You will carry your own book of business, build relationships with your Clients, and consistently meet or exceed your personal sales goals. Your ability to demonstrate the Waterman consultative fitting process at a high level is not just expected — it is how you earn the respect of your team. The best coaching you will ever give a Specialist is letting them watch you do it right.

What You Will Do

Deliver the full Waterman Client experience personally — from the moment a Client walks in the door to the moment they leave with a solution that fits their life
Lead the sales floor with energy and intention, setting the tone for how every Client is greeted, assessed, and served
Build and maintain your own Client relationships, completing follow-up calls on time and keeping records accurate and current
Step into the senior leadership role seamlessly when the Store Manager is away, keeping standards, accountability, and team focus exactly where they need to be
Coach and observe Specialists during their daily presentations, offering feedback that builds confidence and sharpens skill
Support the onboarding of new team members through their first 90 days, helping them become productive contributors to the store
Participate in weekly Saturday morning workshops and help facilitate team development conversations
Keep store operations running cleanly. Focus on accurate transactions, stocked and organized displays, maintained records, and timely follow-up on every Client contact
Assist with interviewing candidates and providing feedback to the Store Manager to help build the right team

What You Bring

At least two years of retail sales or Client service experience, with some experience in a lead or key-holder capacity
A personal sales record you are proud of and a drive to keep building it
A natural ability to sell combined with a genuine desire to develop others
The organizational discipline to manage multiple priorities across sales, people, and operations without dropping the ball
A calm, professional presence with Clients of all backgrounds, including those who are elderly, disabled, or frustrated
Strong communication skills up and down the organization — with your team, your Store Manager, and your Clients
Comfort working with Clients' feet and the ability to stay on your feet and moving throughout the day

Schedule

Five to six days per week, 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Off Sundays and Thursdays. Saturdays are required.

Compensation and Bonus Structure

Hourly rate commensurate with experience, discussed at time of hire
5% commission on all personal sales
Store performance bonus
Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
PTO per company policy

Additional Requirements

Must maintain a professional appearance per the Waterman Dress Code at all times
Must wear Waterman arch supports while on duty and complete the full wear cycle
May be required to travel to other Waterman locations as directed
