Required Qualifications:
1. WA State teaching certificate with endorsements in k-8 Education
2. Satisfactory evaluations
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Successful teaching experience as documented by evaluations and references.
2. Willingness to comply with requirement to teach curriculum as implemented at school.
3. Willingness to teach, and follow, the KSD adopted curriculum and develop lessons K-8th grades.
4. Willingness to develop project based learning lessons for k-8th graders
5. Willingness to teach in an ALE school.
6. Evidence of success in working well with parents, students, and staff members.
7. Evidence of success in working with others to develop a cohesive, collaborative, teaming situation.
8. Recent classroom teaching experience within the last three years.
9. Training or demonstrated successful experience in:
- Cooperative learning
- Use of technology and its integration into instruction, especially computers
- TPEP evaluation and Danielson Framework
- GLAD experience or willingness to be trained
- Hi-Cap experience or willingness to be trained
10. Willingness to make school-wide decisions based on "what's best for kids".
11. Willingness to attend monthly KSD GLAD refresher/updates.
12. Willingness to provide appropriate interventions for both low and high level learners (Hi-Cap).
13. Experience and knowledge of the math STAR test and able to teach to certain aspects of the test (coordinates, logic problems, angles and measurement, etc.)
14. Experience and knowledge of the reading STAR test and able to teach to certain aspects of the test (alphabetizing, literary elements, using a dictionary, etc.)
15. Experience with and/or training with and willingness to include special needs students in the regular classroom and in self-contained classroom groups.
16. Evidence of success in a variety of assessment techniques (Smarter Balanced, Star Test)
17. Evidence of successful classroom management and student/teacher relationships
18. Be able to teach/consult on the days/times of the master schedule.
19. Punctual and consistent attendance.
Job Description:
1. Meet and instruct the students in the location at the time designated.
2. Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided.
3. Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request from the immediate supervisor.
4. Take all reasonable and necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
5. Teach students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior.
6. Maintain records as required by law, District policy and administrative guidelines.
7. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules and administrative regulations.
8. Attend and participate in faculty, team, and grade level meetings.
9. Teach curriculum as implemented by the school using developmentally-appropriate practices, hands-on projects, cooperative group activities and assess progress in a variety of ways.
10. Use technology as an instructional tool.
11. Participate in building-wide programs including teaching keyboarding and technology, violence prevention, study and social skills.
12. Participate in ongoing professional development activities.
13. Provide instruction, in consultation with special services, to the special needs of children in the regular classroom.
14. Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents and colleagues concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of all students.
15. Establish and maintain collaborative professional relationships with others.
16. Perform related duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with District policies and practices.

Physical Hazards: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work outdoors in a wide variety of temperatures; from -10 degrees F to 100 degrees F +. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in this work environment is moderate.
Application Procedure: In-District staff must complete an internal online application by 10:00 p.m. (PST) on or before the closing date. In-building/In-district staff will have eight school days, or eight working days during the summer to apply for a vacant position through the online application system. The employee may choose but will not be required to meet with the building administrator to understand the building practices, procedures and initiatives specific to the position to which they are applying. After eight days if an in-building employee is qualified for the position, the principal will offer the employee the position. In the case that more than one in-building employee is interested in a position, the position will be offered to the qualified and senior employee. If a position is not filled in-building after the eight day period, the position will be offered to the qualified, most senior in-district applicant, if any. Teachers with a summative evaluation score of 1 or 2 are not eligible to transfer unless agreed upon by the District and Association.
