Member Services Representative (Remote After Training) – Akron, OH

Location: Akron, OH (Candidates must reside within 25 miles of the Summa Care facility)
Facility: Summa Care
Contract Duration: August 10, 2026 – December 31, 2026
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (Seasonal Contract)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Member Services Representative to join the Summa Care Member Services team. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong customer service background, preferably within the health insurance or Medicare industry. The position focuses on delivering exceptional support to members by resolving inquiries related to benefits, eligibility, claims, billing, enrollments, and authorizations while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Important Work Arrangement:

Mandatory 4-week onsite training in Akron, OH
Transition to a fully remote schedule after successful completion of training
Candidates must remain available to report onsite if required during the contract.
Applicants must live within 25 miles of the Summa Care facility in Akron.

Key Responsibilities

Provide exceptional customer service via phone, email, and other communication channels.
Assist members with questions regarding:
Benefits
Eligibility
Enrollment
Billing
Claims
Prior Authorizations
Accurately document member interactions and complaints in the tracking system.
Meet established productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction standards.
Demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and effective problem-solving during every interaction.
Maintain confidentiality of member health information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Utilize internal systems to research and resolve member concerns.
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely issue resolution.
Follow company policies, regulatory requirements, and departmental procedures.
Manage workload efficiently in a fast-paced call center environment.

Minimum QualificationsEducation

High School Diploma or GED required.
College coursework is preferred.

Experience

Minimum 2 years of recent experience in:
Customer Service
Call Center
Member Services
Administrative Support
Experience with Medicare and/or Health Insurance is strongly preferred.

Required Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong customer service and conflict resolution abilities.
Comfortable working in a high-volume call center environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Windows and standard computer applications.
Strong keyboarding and data entry skills.
Experience using headsets, VPN, Wi-Fi, and remote work technology.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity.
Professional phone etiquette with a compassionate, member-first approach.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged sitting.
Frequent computer and telephone use.
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
Manual dexterity for operating office equipment.
