Full Job Description

The Residential Coordinator’s role is to provide clients living with serious and persistent mental illness a higher quality of life in a safe and therapeutic environment. The Residential Coordinator will be expected to work with a diverse population and must be sensitive to the culture, religion, language, age, gender, and sexual orientation of the population served.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Revise and post staff schedules, ensuring coverage of all shifts. Monitor vacation requests.
Schedule and monitor monthly fire drills to ensure they are completed. Train new staff on fire drill procedures.
Conduct weekly room checks to ensure safety and basic cleanliness. Provide feedback to consumers and case managers regarding room conditions and any necessary follow-up.
Monitor facility supplies and ensure adequate inventory of bedding, toiletries, towels, waste baskets, kitchen supplies, and cleaning supplies. Inventory supplies and groceries and place orders as needed.
Ensure menus are rotated and posted and comply with applicable WAC requirements. Teach kitchen safety to new consumers.
Monitor and ensure that TRY House is clean, well-maintained, in good repair, and in compliance with applicable residential WAC requirements.
Plan and coordinate recreational and holiday activities for consumers in conjunction with other staff and volunteers.
Work with the Facilities Coordinator to ensure consumer rooms are clean, safe, and ready for new occupants.
Support each consumer’s individualized treatment plan by assisting consumers in developing the skills needed to live and work more independently in the community.
Monitor and accurately document consumer medication compliance. Educate consumers regarding the purpose and appropriate use of medications.
Develop therapeutic and effective working relationships with consumers while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
Spend a majority of time in the house milieu, motivating, teaching, and assisting consumers with self-care, practical living, leisure, and interpersonal skills, as appropriate.
Monitor consumers’ health care needs and substance use concerns and report concerns or incidents to the consumer’s primary case manager, agency RN, or supervisory staff.
Effectively intervene in consumer crises, including consulting with agency staff, on-call supervisors, and Designated Mental Health Professionals regarding potentially dangerous or problematic situations.
Encourage and assist consumers in engaging in employment or other meaningful activities.
Remind consumers of appointments with prescribers and assist them in preparing for other appointments as necessary.
Document each consumer’s symptoms and behavior in the daily shift log and in the consumer’s record, as appropriate.
Conduct regular safety checks of the facility. Monitor and document consumers’ presence on site.
Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to shredding confidential documents, copying and stocking forms and medication room supplies, and general cleaning of staff office areas.

PHYSICAL/WORK REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to navigate two flights of stairs and lift up to 30 pounds.
Must be able to work on-site; remote work is not available for this position.

RELATIONSHIP WITH COMMUNITY AND CO-WORKERS

Contribute to cooperative and effective working relationships with clinical teammates, supervisors, and other staff throughout the Agency.
Seek and provide case consultation and coordination as needed.
Present a positive and professional image of the Agency when interacting with referral sources, service providers, community resources, and other individuals or organizations serving Agency consumers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent required.
: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field, with experience working with individuals with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI).
Other residential, behavioral health, or social service experience may substitute for the preferred educational qualifications.
Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record required, as the position involves operating Agency vehicles.
Criminal background check and fingerprint-based identification check, required for working with vulnerable adults.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE COMPLETED AFTER HIRE

The following requirements are not required at the time of hire but are required to work in this position. The Agency will provide required training and will compensate employees for time spent completing Agency-required training and certification requirements.

Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) registration, as required by the state.
Home Care Aide (HCA) certification, including Agency-provided training.
First Aid/CPR certification, including Agency-provided training.
TB blood test.
Any additional training or certifications required by the Agency or applicable state regulations.

COMPLIANCE WITH INFECTION CONTROL POLICIES

Comply with current CDC / DOH infection prevention guidelines to control the spread of COVID-19 and other acute viral respiratory infections.

Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Correctly wear required face coverings, masks, or respirators (such as N95s) based on task risk assessments, resident health status, or specific transmission-based precautions.

WAGES & HOURS

$40.97 per hour, non-exempt position. Staff working weekend shifts receive an extra $2.50 per hour.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, 40 hours per week, weekdays.

Counseling staff are encouraged to participate in the agency’s on-call system. On-call hours require being available by phone to be called in immediately and are reimbursed at a rate of $3.00 per hour while off-site, with an additional $200 paid if called in to work.

Counseling staff are also encouraged to be flexible in providing coverage for overnight, weekend, or holiday shifts, when needed.

22 days of paid time off (PTO) per year, which may be used for vacation, sick, and personal leave, prorated based on FTE.
