Full Job Description

Job Overview
Cornerstone Community Bank is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Loan Assistant to support our commercial, agriculture and consumer lending team. This role plays a vital part in the loan process, working with commercial loan officers to process loan applications from initial submission through closing. The ideal candidate will be organized, customer-focused, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Loan Processing & Documentation

Assist commercial loan officers in processing loan applications from application to closing
Gather, verify and organize loan documentation including financial statements, tax return, business plans, and legal documents
Prepare loan packages for credit analysis and presentation to loan committee
Order and review appraisals, title work and other third-party reports
Ensure all documentation meets bank policies, regulatory requirements and investor guidelines
Provide support for agriculture loan processing when needed, including review of farm-specific documentation

Customer Service & Communication

Serve as a primary point of contact for commercial, agriculture and consumer borrowers throughout the loan process
Communicate loan status updates to borrowers, loan officers and other stakeholders
Coordinate with attorneys, title companies, appraisers and other external parties
Respond to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner

Compliance & Quality Control

Ensure all loans comply with bank policies and federal/state regulations
Maintain accurate loan files and documentation in loan operating system
Track and monitor loan conditions and covenants
Assist with loan file audits and regulatory examinations as needed

Administrative Support

Prepare loan closing documents and coordinate closings
Input and maintain loan data in core banking system
Generate reports for management and regulatory purposes
Support portfolio management activities including tickler tracking and exception, covenant monitoring
Assist with UCC filings and lien documentation

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor's degree preferred)
3+ years of experience in commercial lending, loan operations or banking
Strong understanding of commercial, agriculture and consumer loan documentation and processes
Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance requirements
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with commercial and consumer loan servicing systems
Knowledge of agricultural lending practices and agriculture documentation (or willingness to learn)
Previous experience with loan closing processes
