Hill Country Community Needs Council * Executive Director

About the Organization

For more than 40 years, the Hill Country Community Needs Council has served Gillespie County by providing compassionate assistance to neighbors facing crisis and hardship. Through programs including emergency assistance, counseling, housing and utility assistance, food support, and community referrals, the organization serves 3,500–4,500 local residents each year. Our mission is to care for neighbors in need through compassionate support by coordinating volunteers, direct services, and local resources.

Position Summary

The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the Needs Council and reports to the Board of Directors. This individual provides strategic leadership and oversees all aspects of the organization's operations, finances, fundraising, staff, programs, and community relationships.

This highly visible role requires a collaborative, mission-driven leader committed to serving vulnerable populations while ensuring the organization's long-term sustainability and continued impact throughout Gillespie County.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide strategic leadership and implement the organization's mission and goals.

· Partner with the Board of Directors on governance, planning, and policy.

· Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations and best practices.

· Oversee budgeting, financial reporting, audits, and organizational resources.

· Maintain sound financial stewardship and operational effectiveness.

· Oversee facilities, risk management, insurance, and administrative functions, including ownership responsibilities related to the Little Hearts Child Development facility.

· Lead fundraising efforts through donor development, grants, and community partnerships.

· Serve as the organization’s public representative through community engagement, speaking opportunities, and communications.

· Build relationships with donors, businesses, churches, civic groups, foundations, and partner agencies.

· Recruit, supervise, and develop staff while fostering a positive workplace culture.

· Ensure high-quality delivery of programs and services.

· Strengthen partnerships with local schools, healthcare providers, law enforcement, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations.

· Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.

· Five or more years of leadership experience in nonprofit, public, healthcare, or community organizations.

· Experience in fundraising, grant writing, financial management, budgeting, and personnel supervision.

· Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and nonprofit management software.

The successful candidate is a compassionate, ethical, and collaborative leader with strong financial and organizational skills. An effective communicator, who is comfortable serving as the public face of the organization, and is passionate about improving the lives of individuals and families throughout Gillespie County.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
