We are seeking a dedicated, highly skilled Regional Director of Clinincal Services -RN to lead our nursing team with professionalism and compassion. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in nursing administration, with a strong background in Skill nursing and long term care and Assisting Living. As the Traveling Director of Clinincal Services, you will be responsible for developing, directing and managing the nursing services department to ensure the delivery of high-quality nursing care and services in accordance with all laws, regulations and facility guidelines.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required; current Compact RN license in good standing.

Must possess the ability to read, write and speak the English language; must be involved in health care matters and projects with the community as needed; must have strong communication and presentation skills in both group and individual situations; must be patient, friendly, courteous and respectful to residents in any situation, including difficult ones; must be able to make independent decisions when necessary; must have the ability to follow nursing department guidelines as outlined by the facility and other regulations governing nursing services in a long-term care facility; must be able to move frequently throughout the workday; must be able to lift 40 lbs floor to waist; lift 20 lbs waist to shoulder; lift and carry 40 lbs; and push/pull 40 lbs.
Experience:
Minimum of three years experience in health care, long-term care, and geriatrics nursing experience preferred; must have proven leadership skills.
Essential Job Duties
1. Responsible for overall supervision of each Nursing Department assigned and providing guidance to both management and non-management Nursing staff.
2. Assists the facility Risk Manager and helps to oversee investigations related to resident events.
3. Reviews all facility events post the facility review to comply with all State and Federal regulations.
4. Assists in recruitment, helps to select and orient qualified Supervisors for the Nursing Department.
5. Provides expectations and monitors performance of Nursing Leadership in accordance with budgetary obligations.
6. Assists and provides guidance in managing the labor budget and control of expenses in accordance with facility guidelines.
7. Directs and develops the nurse leadership to ensure the delivery of high quality care and services in accordance with all laws, regulations and facility guidelines.
8. Helps to guide investigations in accordance with state guidelines for allegations of resident neglect, abuse or misappropriation of resident property and assists in effectively resolving any issues.
9. Maintains positive physician relations and works to ensure all requirements are completed in a timely manner.
10. Ensures that the process/protocol to monitor nursing notes is being completed by nurse leadership.
11. Performs rounds within the nursing department at each assigned facility to effectively monitor residents and ensure that nursing needs have been met as outlined on care plans and infection control guidelines are being followed.
12. Evaluates resident acuity at each assigned facility and makes recommendations for appropriate staffing levels for CNAs, LPNs and RNs per shift.
13. Ensures that the department head team at each facility is completing the grievance process in a timely manner to determine the best resolution and forwards to the Administrator.
14. Ensures clinical guideline adherence; meets with nurse leadership as needed to perform necessary corrective action steps.
15. Educates the facility teams and monitors the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement program, reviews reports and makes recommendations to each QAPI improvement team.
16. Performs rounds with nurse leadership to ensure that all infection control measures are practiced timely &
accurately.
17. Educates & updates nurse leadership on isolation policy and handling of residents with infections.
18. Serves as the secondary contact for local health department for reporting infectious diseases within each facility.
19. May be required to participate in various routine and non-routine meetings to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of company outcomes.
20. Builds an effective nursing team at each facility and actively participates in state or federal survey processes.
21. Assumes responsibility as the Director of Nursing in his or her absence.
22. Participates in weekend facility duties as assigned.
23. Actively participates in development and delivery of in-service training programs.
24. Provides verbal and written reports to the Administrator/Director of Nursing and makes care recommendations.
25. Provides reports to the Vice President of Clinical Services as needed.
26. Attends off-site meetings with Corporate Team when available.
27. Provides direct nursing care as necessary.
28. Promotes continuity of care at the facility level through partnering with other departments (i.e. Rehab & the Regional Rehab Directors).
29. Educates clinical staff on facility guidelines regarding resident rights to refuse treatments.
30. Reviews advance directive audits with Social Services Department & Clinical Team on a regular basis.
31Assists with administrative duties as needed or requested.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license with current registration; prior experience in nursing home and long-term care.
- Strong understanding of MDS (Minimum Data Set) processes and Medicare regulations related to long-term care facilities.
- Proficiency with PCC system for documentation review and medical records management.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and anatomy to support clinical assessments and care planning.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing nursing teams and supervising staff effectively.
- Familiarity with shift management strategies to ensure continuous quality care delivery across all shifts.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with residents, families, regulatory agencies, and healthcare providers.
