Full Job Description

The Phlebotomist serves as a key customer interface between Aeon Technologies Laboratories and clients. The employee in this position will collect and process specimens to be received exclusively by Aeon Technologies Laboratories. The employee will be responsible for operating within all applicable guidelines and staying current with all professional and safety training as well as certification as appropriate.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure positive patient identification.
Perform venipuncture and other blood-collection procedures.
Perform urine and urine drug screen collection as necessary.
Perform additional specimen collections, according to laboratory requirements.
Ensure completeness and accuracy of labeling on all specimens.
Process specimens as required to assure specimen viability and quality analysis.
Ensure completeness and accuracy of all requisition forms for the identification, processing and billing of all specimens.
Package and ship specimens to be sent via assigned courier services in a manner that meets required regulations.
Operate and maintain all equipment used.
Maintain appropriate levels of supplies necessary for the collection and processing of specimens to include periodic inventory of supplies and review of expiration dates of perishable inventory.
Coordinate or respond to (as appropriate) company, client and patient inquiries related to Aeon Technologies services.
Perform all required tasks in a fashion that meets or exceeds legal and regulatory standards including, but not limited to: privacy/confidentiality laws (e.g. HIPAA,) conflict-of-interest laws (e.g. Stark law and federal anti-kickback law,) and laboratory operations regulations (e.g. OSHA, CLIA.)
Assist in the training of new employees.
Identify and convey to management any real or potential issues that could interfere with the company's ability to provide services and provide feedback which could improve the company's quality of service.
Maintain all personal certification and training requirements as applicable.
Demonstrate thorough and professional communication at all times to all clients, patients and company employees.
Assume other duties as assigned by management.
Attends all required company meetings and training programs.

Laboratory Assistant Responsibilities:

Receives, accessions and archives laboratory samples.
Tracks inventory of supplies and reagents in laboratory and reports to Technical Supervisor
Receives packages/shipments and store based on storage requirements.
Assists Medical Laboratory Scientist as needed in performing laboratory related duties.
Handles phone enquiries for results and communicates results both verbally and electronically.
Assist Laboratory Operations Manager, Lead MLS, and lab staff as needed in performing laboratory related duties.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma with a minimum of two (2) years recent experience in health care field.
Phlebotomy/Lab Assistant Certificate (preferred).
Minimum of two (2) years of phlebotomy experience (required).
Certified Phlebotomy Technician (preferred).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Light to moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.)
Occasional carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects
Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
Must be able to hear, see, and respond adequately
Frequent prolonged standing, walking, sitting, and bending over
Use of hands and fingers

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Air-conditioned laboratory environment
Frequent exposure to video display terminals
Frequent contact with water (hand washing and cleaning), biohazardous body fluids, and occasional hazardous chemicals
Sufficient noise and interruptions to cause distraction

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $24.00 per hour
