Freedom Detox with Pyramid Healthcare is looking for a dependable and customer-focused Part-Time Cook to join our team in Gastonia, NC. If you enjoy preparing quality meals, take pride in your work, and appreciate a predictable daytime schedule, this is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact while maintaining an excellent work-life balance.

Our kitchen serves approximately 18–22 clients per meal in a supportive, low-stress healthcare environment. This position offers flexible scheduling, approximately 25 hours per week, no evening shifts, and the opportunity to work independently while being part of a compassionate team.

What You'll Do

As our Cook, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, high-quality meals while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized kitchen.

Responsibilities include:

Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to established menus, recipes, and dietary requirements.
Ensure meals are prepared on time while maintaining quality, consistency, and presentation.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen in accordance with food safety standards.
Follow portion control guidelines and standardized recipes.
Prepare meals that accommodate special dietary needs when required.
Monitor and document food and equipment temperatures.
Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
Receive, rotate, and properly store food and supplies.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance concerns promptly.
Maintain excellent customer service when interacting with clients, visitors, and fellow team members.
Complete required cleaning tasks and documentation.
Participate in required training and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and kitchen safety.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

Five (5) years of kitchen or commercial food service experience.
Experience working in healthcare, behavioral health, or institutional food service.
ServSafe Certification (or willingness to obtain after hire).
