SUMMARY:
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary
environment across Authority facilities. This role ensures that offices, buildings,
and surrounding areas are well-maintained, organized, and free from debris and
odors. The incumbent is expected to perform all duties in a safe, efficient, and
professional manner. When working in the field, there is exposure to dirty, noisy,
and dusty conditions, disagreeable odors, and unpleasant weather.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform routine cleaning of office buildings and facilities, including

dusting, sweeping, mopping, polishing, and disinfecting surfaces.

Clean and sanitize restrooms, fixtures, windows, mirrors, stairways, and

handrails.

Empty and clean trash receptacles (indoor and outdoor) and collect litter

from Authority grounds.

Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures as directed by the

supervisor.

Use appropriate safety signage (e.g., wet floor signs) to maintain a safe

work environment.

Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and request replenishment

as needed.

Report maintenance issues and repair needs identified during cleaning

activities.

Handle and use cleaning chemicals safely in accordance with safety

guidelines and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

Notify appropriate personnel when encountering hazardous conditions or

materials.

Launder cleaning materials or assigned items using washer/dryer

equipment.

Operate Authority vehicles as assigned.
Demonstrate proper cleaning techniques and procedures to other staff, as

needed.

Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

EDUCATION, LICENSE, AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of a 9th Grade Education with at least two (2) years of relevant

custodial, janitorial, or housekeeping experience, including at least one (1)
year within a utility, government agency, or public service organization;
OR

High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution preferred,

with at least one (1) year of relevant experience performing janitorial,
housekeeping, or custodial duties, within a utility, government agency, or
public service organization.

Valid Virgin Islands Driver's License is required.
