Full Job Description

POSITION: Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician/Scribe

Will train qualified candidate, but ophthalmic knowledge or healthcare experience beneficial.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Supports ophthalmologists by interviewing patients to obtain medical and ocular history, scribing, performing preliminary testing, assisting physicians as needed, patient work up, and diagnostic testing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interview patients and document ocular and medical histories into Electronic Health Record
Scribe for different specialties
Perform a variety of routine tests using ophthalmic instruments that provide diagnostic information including but not limited to: intraocular pressure, basic motility, visual fields, fundus photography OCT, refractions, biometry, and topography.
Administer topical medications or diagnostic drugs as directed by physician
Assisting physician with minor surgical procedures, sterile preparations, and documentation
Maintain confidentiality of patient records
Prepare procedure and exam rooms
Perform basic triage
Communicate clearly with patients
Adhere to all clinic policies and procedures including, but not limited to: standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance
Work as a team player
Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED
