Full Job Description

Position starting: August 4th, 2026

Looking to fill:

MORNING SHIFT 9-1PM (MONDAY-THURSDAY)
TWICE A WEEK SHIFT - MONDAYS AND TUESDAY 9-5PM

Essential Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year of classroom practicum teaching experience
Must communicate in the language of instruction at C1+ level (i.e., CEFR C1+)
Must have a formal academic background, consisting of, at a minimum:
Undergraduate degree in teaching in the field of instruction (e.g., TESOL, foreign language teaching degree, and/or any related field), OR:
Teachers of English Language Program Courses
Undergraduate degree out of field, with valid CELTA certification, OR:
Undergraduate degree out of field, with rigorous TESOL certification that documents the teacher’s specific knowledge base and skill set includes, at a minimum, the following:
Language teaching methodology
The nature of language/languages (e.g., introduction to linguistics)
The structure of English (e.g., syntax, phonology, morphology, discourse)
Second language acquisition
Intercultural communication (e.g., sociolinguistics, cross-cultural studies)
Practicum experience

In the event that a teacher does not meet these minimum requirements, an employee may be hired on a provisional basis, contingent on having all of the above requirements met within a reasonable timeline determined on a case-by-case basis in consideration of any extenuating circumstances. These provisions are detailed in the employee’s contract and/or related notices kept in the employee’s personnel file.

Newly hired teachers lacking classroom practicum teaching experience will be monitored directly by the Academic Coordinator until this requirement is met. Further details may be found below under “Evaluations”.

Overview & Duties

Teachers are tasked with delivering high quality instruction to students of a diverse range of backgrounds and abilities, according to the programs they have been assigned to.

To achieve this, they must implement not only effective high-yield instructional strategies, but also work tirelessly to eliminate any and all barriers to success for our students by building positive and constructive relationships with each and every single student, knowing who they are as learners and using that knowledge to accommodate and modify instruction as appropriate to each class. Teachers must also demonstrate a personal commitment to professional development in their field. More information may be found below under “Professional Development”.

Teachers are required to report to their classes on-time and carry out instruction while adhering to the scope and sequence set out by the program to ensure that all students are meeting the student learning goals established in each respective course syllabi.

Teachers are also responsible for managing their classroom space as an environment conducive to learning for all students. They do this by adhering to the employee code of conduct while also ensuring that students uphold the student code of conduct. Teachers must report student deviations from the code of conduct to administration. Teachers must also self-report their own deviations from the code of conduct to the Academic Coordinator.

Immediate Supervisor(s) and Subordinate(s)

Reports directly to the Academic Coordinator. Teachers are not responsible for any subordinates.

Workload

Teachers typically work a flexible schedule, up to 40 hours per week. This schedule may consist of shifts of group classes (e.g., morning shift or night shift), as well as private tutoring hours. These teaching assignments are given by the Academic Coordinator and/or other senior administrators in the manner described elsewhere in this handbook. Teachers are also expected to attend bi-weekly planning meetings as scheduled by the Coordinator. Teachers are paid an hourly wage based on experience and qualifications.

Teaching Assignments and Endorsements

Teacher hours fluctuate depending on their teaching assignments, ranging up to as many as 40 hours per week. Assignments are given to teachers endorsed to provide instruction in a particular area (e.g., English Language Program, etc.). Assignments for which each teacher is endorsed are indicated on their employment contract and any subsequent letters of endorsement awarded for recognized completion of relevant professional development.

Veteran teachers and teachers with particular skill sets may receive preferential assignments depending on how their qualifications, knowledge base and skill sets match the needs of the student population.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 20.0 per week
