Full Job Description

Klamath County Fire District 1 (KCFD1) is currently accepting applications for the 2026-2027 candidate eligibility list Firefighter/Paramedic position. The eligibility list will remain in effect for 12 months, or until exhausted. This eligibility list will be utilized to fill open vacancies, as needed, in the next 12 months.

Through our values-driven team, we provide structural and wildland fire protection, emergency advanced life support, ambulance transport, hazardous materials response and emergency rescue. KCFD1 is comprised of 69 line personnel who provide coverage through 4 fire stations. In 2025 our team responded to 9,346 calls for service.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is responsible for carrying out the duties assigned by the supervising Company Officer. Firefighter/Paramedic personnel are required to work in strict compliance with all rules and regulations that govern Klamath County Fire District 1 (KCFD1). This position responds to a variety of emergent and non-emergent incidents including calls for structural and wildland fire suppression, rescue, BLS and ALS emergency medical services, interfacility transports, mass casualty incidents, and man-made and natural disasters. Operates and assists in routine maintenance, cleaning, and inspection of KCFD1 vehicles, specialized equipment, facilities, and tools. This position requires project work, as assigned.

Annual Salary with Incentive: $83,577 - $100,517.64

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

High School Diploma or GED.

Certifications/licenses

Possession of a valid Driver's Licensebe willing to obtain Oregon license and maintain a safe driving record throughout the duration of employment
Oregon or National Registry EMT
Oregon Paramedic License (by date of hire)
NFPA Firefighter I certification
ACLS Certification
Valid CPAT (issued by date of hire)
Current CPR card
EVOC certified, NFPA Driver, or equivalent (must earn within probationary year)
OSHA equivalent HazMat Emergency Responder Awareness and Operations (must earn within probationary year)
NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800 (must earn within probationary year)

Submission deadline is Tuesday August 31st 2026. All applicants will be notified of their status no later than Wednesday September 2nd.

Anticipated Onsite Assessment Date: September 16th and 17th

Examination Components: Skills Assessment/ Panel Interview
