Lead the Culinary Operation at Death & Taxes

Death & Taxes, part of Ashley Christensen Restaurants, is seeking an experienced and thoughtful Chef de Cuisine to lead the culinary operation across the entire building, including the main restaurant, private dining spaces, and events.

This is an opportunity to shape the culinary direction of a nationally recognized, chef-driven restaurant; develop a strong and cohesive team; and ensure an exceptional guest experience across every service format.

The Chef de Cuisine will work closely with the Chef Proprietor, General Manager, service leadership, and events team. The right person will bring culinary creativity, operational discipline, strong leadership, and a genuine commitment to helping others grow.

What You’ll Do

Oversee kitchen operations for restaurant service, private dining, and events.
Collaborate with the Chef Proprietor on seasonal menus and recipe development.
Lead, coach, schedule, and develop the culinary team.
Maintain exceptional standards for food quality, flavor, presentation, and consistency.
Coordinate staffing, production, and service needs across the restaurant's dining and event spaces.
Build strong communication and cohesion among the culinary, service, and events teams.
Manage inventory, purchasing, vendors, food costs, labor, waste, and kitchen equipment.
Maintain high standards for food safety, sanitation, cleanliness, and workplace safety.
Anticipate challenges, solve problems in real time, and strengthen the systems that support smooth execution.
Help create a seamless and thoughtful guest experience throughout the building.

You May Be a Great Fit If You

Have strong kitchen management experience in a chef-driven, full-service restaurant or similarly complex culinary operation.
Can lead multiple service formats without compromising quality or attention to detail.
Bring strong culinary knowledge, sound technique, and respect for ingredients.
Know how to coach, delegate, communicate clearly, and create accountability.
Understand the business side of restaurant operations, including food cost, labor, inventory, and purchasing.
Remain calm, organized, and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
Lead with high standards, humility, kindness, and professionalism.
Value collaboration and are willing to leave ego at the door.
Can work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, holidays, and events.

Private dining or event experience is strongly valued. A culinary degree and food safety certification are preferred but not required.

This role requires regular standing and movement throughout the kitchen and building, use of standard commercial kitchen equipment, and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
