Full Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant (Primary Care) to join our high performing medical team. Our purpose and focus is to deliver high quality patient-centered preventative care. This role combines clinical and administrative responsibilities, ensuring high clinical quality, efficient patient flow, accurate records and excellent patient care experiences.

Responsibilities:

Patient Care & Clinical Support
Care Coordination & Communication
Inventory & Equipment Management
Administrative
Compliance & Safety

Patient Care & Clinical Support

Prepare patients for examination (vitals, height, weight, BMI)
Review medical history and changes in medications, allergies
Document chief complaint
Assist provider during examinations as needed
Perform clinical tasks including Injections, immunizations, phlebotomy, specimen collections, EKG, point of care testing
Clean & prepare exam rooms between patients
Maintain infection control to OSHA standards

Care Coordination & Communication:

Warm reassuring engagements with invitations for follow-up and communications
Coordinate Referrals to specialists & ancillary services & communicate results
Order labs and communicate results
Educate patients on health and wellness memberships & programs
Support preventative care outreach & chronic care management

Inventory & Equipment Management

Monitor and restock medical supplies using kanban cards and system
Maintain sterilization standards and sterilize equipment
Discuss equipment or inventory issues with clinicians and practice director
Running controls and maintaining equipment on schedule

Administrative Responsibilities:

Positive engaged collaborative teamwork
Patient Scheduling
Care Coordination Management - Referals, Call Backs, Results, Labs
Accurate & Timely documentation in the EMR
Prior Authorizations
Patient communications and patient inquiry response

Compliance & Safety

HIPAA compliance
Patient safety & confidentiality
Policy, protocol, SOP and regulatory compliance
Proper handling & disposal of medications and biohazard materials

Required Background:

Considerations for advancing medical training and skills are encouraged

The successful candidate should also have experience in adjusting his or her level of personal care to each patient as their emotional and physical needs vary.
