Certified Pharmacy Technician

We are seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to support the rapid growth we are currently experiencing in the East Tennessee market. Job Summary

The Certified Pharmacy Technician assists with the compounding of sterile preparations in compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures, assembly of patient supplies and equipment, and other tasks related to dispensing medication. The pharmacy technician also supports the intake function to include the coordination and communication with providers, patients, and nurses required to initiate and conduct patient care. The pharmacy technician will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and will report to the PIC/Operating Manager.

Responsibilities

· Compound sterile preparations for dispensing using aseptic technique

· Maintain knowledge of USP chapter to assure the quality, sterility, and stability of compounded sterile preparations

· Accurately prepare patient supplies for dispensing

· Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of pharmacy work areas in accordance with USP Chapter

· Act as a resource to coworkers and prescribers

· Attend in-service education programs and stays knowledgeable regarding current equipment and procedures.

· Direct questions to the pharmacy manager or nursing personnel if uncertain regarding drugs, supplies, deliveries, or equipment.

· Complete assigned paperwork/document as directed in a timely manner

Qualifications

Required: High school diploma or equivalent

Required: At least 18 years of age

Required: Good interactive skills with employees, supervisors, referral sources, and consumers

Required: Completion of pharmacy technician training

Required: Registered with State Board of Pharmacy

Preferred: National pharmacy technician certification (CPhT)

Preferred: Experience in laboratory or health care setting

Licensure Requirement: Must possess and maintain Tennessee licensure

Physical Requirements

· May require lifting over 40 lbs such as lifting cases of enteral formula and infusion solutions

· May require standing for extended periods such as standing at laminar air flow hood during product preparation

· May require frequent use of computer keyboard such as data entry, patient documentation, label preparations, etc.

· May require use of latex products such as clean and sterile gloves and latex injection ports
