Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Seasonal Soil Sample Technician and play a vital role in advancing agricultural soil science. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to more efficient management of crop production, soil health, and sustainable farming practices. You will be responsible for collecting and managing soil samples in farm fields across Iowa. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about agriculture and environmental sustainability who thrive in hands-on fieldwork and data-driven environments.

Job Title: Soil Sampling Technician
Company: Agronomic Solutions LLC
Location: Positions available in various areas of Iowa, including west/central Iowa, central Iowa, Hwy 20 corridor of eastern Iowa, SE Iowa

Highlights of the Position: working independently, working outside in the fall season, overtime hours available, weekend hours available, all training & equipment provided, ag background is helpful but not required

Job Description:

· Collecting soil samples from designated agricultural fields using standardized protocols to ensure data accuracy and consistency

· Soil Sampling using a hand probe at the depth of 6 inches per sample core to extract soil

· Operating 3-4 different sampling apps required by specific software platforms

· GPS Boundary Mapping using specific apps required by specific software platforms

· Labeling Samples properly and shipping boxes of soil timely to various labs

· Recording daily field information and shipping information into a logging app.

· Perform daily, routine maintenance on equipment

· Riding an ATV on a daily basis following safety procedures and guidlines

Requirements:

· Must be able to work outdoors in various weather (cold, mist, wind, warm, light snow)

· Must have physical ability to walk out from the ATV to collect samples, lift boxes that are about 45 pounds each, ride comfortably on an ATV with repeated motion of getting on and off the seat, using a hand probe to a depth of 6 inches several times per day

· Technology: Must be able to use email, learn 3-4 different sampling apps, and connect to Bluetooth GPS receivers using an Ipad

· Equipment Experience: Pickup/trailer driving experience is required and/or loading an ATV in a pickup bed using ramps, safe operation of an ATV required

· Must be able to work a full week plus some weekends. Hours can range from 50-70 hours per week

· Some travel may be required based on home-based region, workload and weather

· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required

Seasonal Job Position (equating to full-time hours plus overtime during the fall months)

Pay: $20-22 an hour based on experience plus overtime after working 40 hours

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
