Position Overview

Acts as an advocate for at-risk families, abused parents, and children by connecting clients to appropriate resources and services. This role supports family stability and child development using evidence-based models such as Parents as Teachers, Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), and Motivational Interviewing. Through case management, education, and outreach, this position promotes family well-being, strengthens parenting skills, and supports youth development in alignment with KANA's mission and core values.

Key Responsibilities

Supports the organization's mission, goals, and quality standards using a patient-centered and family-centered approach
Demonstrates KANA's core values of Courtesy, Caring, Respect, Sharing, and Pride in all interactions and decisions
Upholds KANA's Code of Ethics through professional, ethical, and respectful conduct
Provides advocacy, case management, and preventive services to at-risk families, abused children, and victims of domestic violence and sexual assault
Assists clients during crisis situations, supports stabilization, and helps develop short-term and long-term goals
Coordinates services and supports clients in navigating healthcare, social services, and community resources
Delivers home visiting services using the Parents as Teachers model to support positive parenting and early childhood development
Instructs parents individually or in group settings on behavior management, physical development, language development, and early learning activities
Supervises family visitation for children in out-of-home care in coordination with Tribes and OCS
Utilizes Motivational Interviewing and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) strategies to support family engagement and behavior change
Administers developmental, health, and mental health screenings for children and families
Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with community partners and service agencies
Identifies service gaps and coordinates referrals for wrap-around services to support client stability and self-sufficiency
Maintains regular client contact through in-person visits, phone calls, and virtual communication to monitor progress and provide support
Provides transportation services as needed to support access to care and services
Completes required intake forms, assessments, and documentation in compliance with program and grant requirements
Participates in case coordination meetings and case reviews to assess progress, address barriers, and ensure client safety
Maintains accurate client records, case files, and program documentation in online data systems
Prepares and submits reports, program narratives, and other required documentation in a timely manner
Stays current on available community and statewide resources to support clients
Attends required training and meetings to maintain compliance with grant, regulatory, and program standards
Travels to villages as needed to provide outreach and support services

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Associate's degree and two (2) years of related experience in social services, human services, or community-based work involving families and youth, case management, and client support; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Work Schedule

KANA's standard work schedule is 37.5 working hours per week, consisting of 7.5 paid working hours per day plus a one-hour unpaid lunch break (8.5 hours on site per day).

All KANA positions are based in Kodiak and are not eligible for remote work. Applicants must reside in Kodiak or be willing to relocate.
