Position Overview:

We’re looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Safety & Compliance Manager to lead company-wide initiatives reporting to our General Manager. This role is ideal for an independent, motivated professional who excels with minimal supervision and brings strong expertise in DOT regulations, FMCSA rules, ELD Compliance and best‑in‑class safety practices. You’ll be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing programs that elevate performance, protect our people, and ensure full regulatory compliance.

Success in this role requires an organized, solutions‑driven leader who takes initiative, thinks independently, and collaborates effectively across teams. You’ll provide support while holding others accountable to key metrics, deadlines, and safety expectations—driving results that meet or exceed company goals. Functions of the position:

Safety:

1. Acts as an additional safety champion for the company.

2. On call and on site for any serious accident or injury to manage the situation.

3. Manages safety training for all employees by assigning and compiles results monthly.

4. Manages accident and injury SOP’s that are fully completed, on time.

5. Create the next version of our safety journey.

6. Works together with our Driver Manager and HR on disciplinary actions.

7. Attends safety related training on behalf of the company as our voice.

8. Attends D.O.T. training and is visible to law enforcement on behalf of the company.

9. Meets with driver groups at locations to promote safety Initiatives and training.

10. Handles Worker Compensation claims, process of claims with our insurance company and managing light duty and return to work items.

11. Can have productive and sometimes critical conversations when needed.

12. Other safety related functions assigned by Executive Management.

Compliance:

1. Work with our compliance provider to improve driver application compliance.

2. Decide to continue with our compliance and training providers or bring them back in house or curtail their programs.

3. Manage our Driver of the Month, Quarter, Year, programs with HR, Driver Manager, and our General Manager.

4. Audit ELD logs for accuracy and unassigned miles for equipment.

5. Create a new DVIR Standard Operating Procedure insuring consistency with Pre/Post trip inspections and vendor management for repairs.

6. Data Q when possible, any violations.

7. Report to Executive Management D.O.T. CSA scores, and create action plans when necessary.

8. Manage the Vehicle Safety Policy for edits and enforcement along with the Operations team.

9. Manage the Drug and Alcohol Policy – Reasonable Suspicion Certified.

10. Other Compliance related functions assigned by Executive Management.

Position Requirements/Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or management is preferred but in lieu of at least 5 years of progressive, relevant experience with an asset-based trucking company with a direct emphasis on safety and compliance is required.

Excellent problem-solving skills, analysis, attention to detail, follow thorough, and time management skills.

Superior organization skills and familiarity with a culture of accountability.

Experience in D.O.T. and FMSCA and ELD regulations.

Must display a high level of professionalism with a friendly, personable, and customer focused demeanor always.

Ability to be proactive, creative and visionary. Be open to new ways.

Must be able to travel to accident or injury scenes. Often as the first company official on scene.

Must possess a valid driver's license and hold an acceptable motor vehicle record.

Proficient in various computer applications/software including but not limited to: Microsoft Suite, PCS, Geotab, 10 Street, Geofence, Netradyne and ADP.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and a suite of benefits are offered.
