Full Job Description

Pioneer Programs is seeking a motivated, independent, and passionate BCBA to join our Non-Public School (NPS) team serving students with Autism and other developmental disabilities. This role is ideal for a clinician who values collaboration, creativity, and community-based instruction within a school setting.

Our campus is located in Ocean Beach, just three blocks from the beach, and serves approximately 40 students with moderate to severe disabilities, ages Kindergarten through 22. Many students present with challenging behaviors and benefit from individualized, evidence-based behavioral supports, and 1:1 supports throughout their entire day.

About Our Program

Pioneer Programs has been serving the San Diego community for over 20 years. Our multidisciplinary model emphasizes functional academics, vocational training, language development, and social skills, with students spending approximately half of their instructional day in the community. Small class sizes, strong community partnerships, and a supportive team environment are the foundation of our program’s continued growth and success.

We follow a Traditional Academic School year of 220 days/year (plus an additional 3 in service days).

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop, implement, and maintain individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
Review Behavior Emergency Reports (BERs) and provide timely, constructive feedback
Deliver both corrective and positive feedback to staff to support professional growth
Supervise and mentor BCBA candidates in accordance with certification requirements
Participate in community outings with staff and students and create vocational connections within the community
Conduct candidate interviews and prepare clear, accurate offer letters in alignment with hiring decisions and company policies
Lead engaging program tours for prospective students, school district representatives, parents, and other stakeholders, providing clear information and answering questions to support enrollment and partnerships
Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) for incoming and current students
Analyze behavior data to monitor progress, treatment fidelity, and program effectiveness within school and community settings
Provide coaching and support during behavioral crises or situations that may escalate
Train new and exiting staff in behavior analytic practices and school-wide procedures
Attend and actively participate in IEP meetings, presenting FBA/BIP findings and updates
Supervise Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), ensuring a minimum of 5% supervision through individual and group formats with appropriate documentation
Design and facilitate group supervision and behavior-related trainings for RBTs and Behavior Support Staff
Obtain Safety-Care Instructor certification and deliver safety training to staff
Collaborate daily with classroom teachers, related service providers, and administrative staff
Participate in meetings with the Program Director, Assistant Director, CEO, and other team members as needed

Required Competencies

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

Strong knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis and evidence-based behavioral interventions
Must be in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board and maintain BCBA certification
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Docs) and willingness to learn new platforms
Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
Calm, professional, and neutral demeanor during behavioral crises
Creativity and enthusiasm for developing and delivering individual and group trainings
Strong problem-solving abilities and a flexible, solution-oriented mindset
High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and delegate tasks
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Reliability, punctuality, and adherence to professional dress code
Passionate about developing training materials, leading engaging sessions, and delivering effective positive and developmental feedback
