SkillSet Group is seeking a Accounts Payable Specialist to work in the Placentia, CA area. We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist. This role manages day-to-day accounts payable activities, including reviewing and processing invoices, handling employee expense documentation, coordinating vendor payments, and maintaining accurate financial records. The position works closely with internal departments and vendors to ensure payments are processed accurately, on time, and in accordance with company procedures and financial controls.
Key Responsibilities
Process vendor invoices, trade payables, overhead expenses, employee expenses and travel reports, reimbursements, and corporate credit card statements.
Verify invoices for accurate coding, documentation, purchase order matching, approvals, and policy compliance before entry into the accounting system.
Maintain organized accounts payable records, vendor files, and payment documentation, including routine filing of processed invoices.
Reconcile vendor statements, investigate discrepancies, and prepare adjustments to maintain accurate payable balances.
Communicate with vendors and internal teams (purchasing, accounting, management) to resolve billing issues, credit claims, and payment inquiries.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, manage multiple deadlines, and perform administrative tasks such as data entry, scanning, copying, and filing.
Support additional accounting tasks and special projects while maintaining confidentiality of financial information.
Bilingual is a PLUS
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
3+ years of Accounts Payable experience, including high-volume invoice processing and vendor statement reconciliation.
Solid knowledge of accounting principles, AP procedures, and payment cycles.
Manufacturing or distribution experience preferred.
Experience with ERP systems (Chempax by Datacor a plus) and strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
Strong attention to detail, data accuracy, organization, and multitasking ability in a deadline-driven environment.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and handle confidential financial data.
