ZPE Labs designs and manufactures advanced lithium-ion battery systems for defense, aerospace, robotics, and other high-performance applications. We are growing rapidly and are looking for a hands-on CNC Fiber Laser Technician to join our manufacturing team immediately.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, improving manufacturing processes, and working in a fast-paced production environment.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Fiber Laser Technician responsible for operating, programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining CNC fiber laser equipment used in battery pack manufacturing. The ideal candidate has experience with fiber laser cutting and/or welding systems and is comfortable optimizing processes for precision manufacturing.
Experience with laser welding, battery manufacturing, or automated production equipment is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC fiber laser cutting and laser welding equipment.
- Program and optimize CNC tool paths and laser parameters.
- Develop and refine laser welding processes for nickel, copper, nickel-plated copper, aluminum, and stainless steel components.
- Set up fixtures, jigs, and workholding for repeatable production.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software issues.
- Perform machine calibration, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
- Verify dimensional accuracy and weld quality using inspection equipment.
- Assist with process development for new battery products.
- Work closely with engineering to improve manufacturing efficiency and throughput.
- Document machine settings, maintenance, and process parameters.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of CNC machining or fiber laser experience.
- Experience with fiber laser cutting and/or laser welding systems.
- Experience with handheld or CNC laser welders.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Familiarity with G-code and CNC programming.
- Experience troubleshooting industrial automation equipment.
- Understanding of pneumatic and electrical systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.

Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:
- Fiber laser welding
- Battery pack manufacturing

- PLC-controlled equipment
