The Delivery Driver is a multifaceted individual who is customer satisfaction and serviced focused while also being aware of transporting merchandise in a safe and timely manner. A successful Delivery Driver is polite and prompt with a commitment to provide our customers with an excellent experience. The role of Delivery Driver is integral to our success as it’s the last impression left upon our customers.
Delivery Drivers have both a physical and analytical role. You are responsible for loading, transporting and delivery of items into customer homes in a safe, timely manner. In addition, prior to delivery, you are responsible for reviewing orders and load reports to insure completeness and accuracy; you are a proactive problem solver. Paramount to success is providing excellent customer service and professionalism. Delivery Drivers adhere to assigned routes and follow time schedules, abide by all transportation laws and maintain a safe driving record.
The Operations Team at Old Brick Furniture is responsible for warehousing and delivery operations. In addition, the Operations Team oversees service and repair operations. Position reports to the Warehouse Manager.
Responsibilities
- Complete daily maintenance checks on delivery truck working with Delivery Supervisor to address concerns.
- Follow the best practices for safety, both on the road and while loading or unloading a truck.
- Communicate and troubleshoot with dispatchers and other delivery/service team members.
- Ability to walk, drive, bend/twist and lift a minimum of 100lbs with assistance for extended periods of time.
- Ability to manage time and routes for a streamlined delivery experience.
- Familiarity with GPS devices and map apps.
- Confidence to drive in inclement weather, such as light snow and rain.
- Ability to work independently but also collaboratively to accomplish common goals and deliver exceptional service.
- Ability to interact with customers in a professional manner.
- Open and transparent communicator.
- Strong time management and customer service skills.
- Attention to detail.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience as a van driver is preferred.
- Ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds) and perform manual labor tasks as needed.
- Experience with manual transmission vehicles is a plus.
- Familiarity with operating forklifts and pallet jacks is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
- Previous experience in courier or moving services is beneficial but not mandatory.
