Full Job Description

Job Summary:

Responsible for assigned Quality functions, as well as leading the development and implementation of overall quality improvements, reduction of defects, and improving customer satisfaction

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and expertise to implement, improve and maintain aerospace quality systems
Quality planning including the development and implementation of processes and internal documentation for product conformance
Facilitate quality improvement and root-cause corrective action projects as required
Develop analytical methods to reduce product variation. Drive initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, and customer claims
Support the response to customer complaints, rejections, and requests for corrective action to enhance positive customer and supplier relationships in a cooperative environment, including continuous follow-up and interface with customers and suppliers on all quality issues
Prepare and present detailed and management oriented written and oral reports
Establish quality key performance indicators (KPI) in alignment with Quality Manager and/or General Manager of the division and ensure targets are communicated and achieved
Oversee quality assurance investigations of non-conforming products and processes, including identifying underlying causes, and developing and coordinating recommended corrective actions
Develop, mentor, and coach quality team members on a continuous basis to increase their skills
Oversee staffing, training, scheduling, task/project completion, performance, professional development, and succession planning for assigned employees

Job Skills & Abilities:

Experience in quality management systems in AS9100 certified environment
Strong customer relations skillset; ability to effectively interact with customers as needed
Demonstrated leadership skills including projects and performance management
Proven decision-making and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
Strong understanding of business principles (i.e. finance, accounting, and budgeting)
Collaborative working style, thrives in a cross-functional team environment
Demonstrated ability to create, set, and achieve strategic objectives that align with the organization
Sound judgment is required in resolving complex problems based on experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
Attention to detail
Strong math skills
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or closely related technical field
Master's Degree preferred
Minimum of 8 years' engineering or quality management experience in a manufacturing company
Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience within a Quality Control department
Demonstrated experience with quality improvement tools and techniques, quality auditing, root cause analysis, mistake proofing, FMEA, FAIR, PPAP, SPC and APQP
In depth knowledge of latest version of AS9100 required
Familiarity with Aerospace industry standards including Nadcap preferred
Six sigma black belt certified and Lean Manufacturing experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged period of sitting at a desk, working on a computer

Ability to use a microscope and other gaging and measurement equipment
Must be able to access and navigate each department at organizations' facilities; both internally and externally
Ability to travel as needed
