The Mechanical Engineer III is responsible for the design, development, building, and testing of mechanical systems. This role will report to the Program Manager and independently provide technical guidance and direction for small projects and their teams. The Mechanical Engineer III supports the business development related tasking inclusive of customer management, quoting, and bid and proposal processing.

Responsibilities:
- Research, estimate, design, develop, analyze, and test a variety of mechanical equipment and systems.
- Effectively design using mathematical calculations, engineering theory and principles, and/or related analyses.
- Create and deliver drawings, documents, and presentations to record and communicate designs, layouts, manufacturing information, analysis, and performance of engineered items.
- Double check data and provide complete work products while meeting the constraints of customer requirements, cost, material availability and manufacturability.
- Technically lead smaller projects and direct one to two (1-2) team members.
- Develop quality technical documentation to inform stakeholder presentations.
- Proactively take measures to reduce error and improve designs through systems analysis and architecture, integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Identify and successfully mitigate project risks both technically and operationally.
- Support the development of bid and proposal processes including basis of estimate (BOE) and rough order of magnitude (ROM).
- Participate in presentations with clients and vendors as necessary.
- Support other engineering disciplines and other functional areas.
- Prioritize safe workplace practices.
- Contribute to team effort by performing other assigned duties as needed.
Desired Skills:
- Experience working in CAD software systems including SolidWorks, Creo, Catia, AutoCAD, and similar programming.
- Experience in military ground vehicles and vehicle systems and/or aviation and aerospace systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management software (i.e. Windchill) and simulation software for FEA, CFD, MBS or similar simulations is preferred.
- Familiarity developing technical data packages per MIL-STD-31000 is preferred.
- Familiarity with manufacturing methods including casting, forging, bending, welding, and additive manufacturing is preferred.
- Ability to travel for business related reasons as required.
- Knowledge of military standards and specifications, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and Department of Defense (DoD) procurement policies and procedures is preferred.
- Ability to obtain security clearance.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field with relevant work experience.
- Six to ten (6-10) years of experience in relevant technical field including systems analysis, systems architecture, systems and equipment support, testing and evaluation, and logistics support of C5ISR requirements and three (3) year of technical experience in support of task specific projects.
