About us

BlackPaw Dog Training is a small, family owned training facility dedicated to improving the relationships between dogs and their people. A small group of dogs come and stay with us on our beautiful, Lafayette, Colorado farm, for an immersive training program, making progress not possible in other settings such as group classes or private lessons. Over the past 20 years we have developed an exclusive program built on large field socialization and balanced training. We strive to create harmony between dogs and their families, reducing problem behaviors, and helping people to better understand their dogs and their needs. We are customer-centric and strive to create the most seemless approach to training both the dog and the family.

Interested in growing your training knowledge base and working with challenging new cases? Our head trainer has more than 20 years experience training dogs including in Search & Rescue. She will guide and teach you how to approach more difficult dogs, growing your skill set.

Duties include:

- Multiple, daily training sessions with each dog

- Working dogs both in public and on the farm

- Pack runs and coaching dogs on appropriate off-leash interactions

- Cleaning kennel, caring for dogs, ensuring a safe environment for the dogs and a pleasing environment for clients
- Provide daily care for animals in the kennel and on the farm including horses & goats, including feeding, watering, pottying, and exercising
- Monitor the health and well-being of animals and report any concerns to the supervisor
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian
- Maintain accurate records of animal care and treatment

-Teaching clients how to maintain the training we put on their dogs

-Not afraid to get your hands dirty

-Minimum one year commitment in exchange for training
- Minimum one year experience training dogs
- Knowledge of animal behavior and basic veterinary care
- Ability to handle animals safely and confidently, including larger or more difficult animals
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) and spend extended periods on your feet
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with pet owners including teaching lessons
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime as needed

Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
