Host / To-Go Specialist

Starting at $17/hour (based on experience)

Join the Kuro Bistro team in downtown Lake Forest! Kuro Bistro is a family-owned Japanese restaurant serving fresh sushi, handcrafted drinks, and exceptional hospitality.

We're looking for friendly, dependable, and motivated Host / To-Go Specialists to join our front-of-house team. As a small family-owned restaurant, every team member plays an important role in creating a great guest experience. Your primary responsibilities will include greeting guests, managing reservations, answering phones, and coordinating takeout orders, while also assisting with other front-of-house duties as needed. We value team players who enjoy staying busy, helping their coworkers, and providing outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities

Welcome and seat guests with a warm, professional attitude.
Manage reservations, waitlists, and guest flow throughout service.
Answer phones and accurately take dine-in and takeout orders.
Learn the menu and confidently answer guest questions.
Package and verify takeout orders to ensure accuracy.
Maintain a clean and organized host stand and takeout station.
Communicate effectively with servers, sushi chefs, and kitchen staff.
Assist with bussing tables and resetting the dining room during busy periods.
Run food, refill beverages, and assist guests as needed.
Complete opening, closing, and side work as assigned.

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years old.
Friendly, professional, and dependable.
Strong communication and multitasking skills.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Willing to learn multiple front-of-house responsibilities.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to guest service.
Reliable transportation and consistent attendance are expected.
Weekend and evening availability is required.
Previous customer service or restaurant experience is preferred but not required—we're happy to train the right person.
