The Flower Shop of Lake Charles is looking for a dependable, creative, trustworthy individual to join our team in a unique hybrid role as a Floral Designer & Family Assistant.
No floral design experience is required. We will train the right person.
This position will include working as part of our floral team while also flexing into helping care for our children when needed.
We are a locally owned family business, so our business and family life sometimes overlap. We are looking for someone who is comfortable being part of both environments and who can transition from learning floral design and helping in the shop to assisting with school pickup, activities, or childcare when needed.
Floral Responsibilities
We will train you in:
- Designing everyday floral arrangements
- Processing and caring for fresh flowers
- Preparing flowers and supplies for designers
- Maintaining the floral cooler and design area
- Assisting with incoming flower shipments
- Preparing orders for delivery
- Helping customers in person and over the phone
- Assisting with weddings, events, holidays, and busy seasons
- Following our design, quality, and pricing standards
- Keeping the shop clean, organized, and presentation-ready
- Helping wherever needed as part of the team
You do not need previous floral experience. We are more interested in finding someone who is creative, coachable, dependable, and willing to learn.
Family / Childcare Responsibilities
When childcare assistance is needed, responsibilities may include:
- Supervising and caring for our children
- School pickup and transportation to activities
- Preparing simple snacks or meals
- Helping maintain their normal routines
- Playing, doing activities, or spending time with them
- Light cleanup related to the children
- Occasionally caring for the children at our home or accompanying the family as needed
This is not a housekeeping position, and we are not looking for someone to manage our entire household.

Experience
Floral experience is not required.
We are happy to train someone from the ground up.
Experience with children is important. Previous experience through babysitting, nannying, daycare, teaching, children's programs, raising children, or similar responsibilities is a plus.
Retail or customer service experience is also helpful but not required.

Why This Position Is Different
This isn't a traditional floral designer position, and it isn't a traditional nanny position.
We are looking for someone who wants variety in their work and who can become a trusted part of both our business and our family's day-to-day routine.
We can teach floral design. What we can't teach as easily is reliability, patience, creativity, good judgment, and genuinely caring about people.
Some days may be spent primarily learning to design flowers and helping customers. Other days may include picking up the kids, taking them to an activity, or spending part of the afternoon with them.
If you're dependable, creative, great with kids, willing to learn, and like the idea of a job where every day isn't exactly the same, we'd love to hear from you.
Pay: From $12.00 per hour
