WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The Insurance Benefit Specialist II is responsible for ensuring that patient health care benefits cover requested visits/procedures. A strong candidate will be able to successfully handle interactions with patients, clients, and insurance companies to give the best, most accurate information possible on coverage and benefits. Will need excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills. Will also need to be detail oriented, organized, and proficient in using various computer software and databases. direct contact with patients and insurance companies.
Primary Responsibilities will include:
- Investigate patient insurance information from patients’ insurance policy prior to date of service
- Contact insurance company, as needed, to verify patient coverage
- Obtain authorization for office visits and surgical procedures in hospital/ASC
- Reviews daily emailed requests for insurance eligibility and authorization assistance
- Communicates with insurance verification and authorization team as needed
- Communicates with practices to ensure patients have the appropriate benefits and authorizations to be seen
- Handling patients’ inquiries regarding prior authorizations and surgical scheduling.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Qualifications and Skills
Looking for a talented prior authorization specialist with the highest level of professionalism to step into our fast-paced office!
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred but not a must.
- SPANISH speaking is a plus
- Previous experience in health care practice environment preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Bi-Lingual; preferred but is NOT a must.
- Experience with Drug Authorizations a must.
- Ability to multitask, work in a team but independently as well.
- Familiar with EMR/EHR systems.
