Overview
The City of Lake City is seeking a motivated and community-focused professional to serve as Recreation Services Program Coordinator. This position provides hands-on support in the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of recreation programs, activities, and events serving youth, adults, families, and seniors.
Working under the direction of the Recreation Services Director, this position will be responsible for expanding the department’s programming capacity by developing, organizing, and delivering quality recreation opportunities that improve community engagement, wellness, and quality of life.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive, energetic, and dependable professional who enjoys working directly with residents and has the ability to take recreation concepts from planning through execution. This position requires someone who can build relationships, coordinate programs, manage logistics, and serve as a visible presence within the community.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- Associate degree in Recreation Administration, Parks and Recreation Management, Sports Management, Physical Education, Leisure Services, Education, or related field.
OR
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience planning and implementing recreation programs.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and special events.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration, Parks and Recreation Management, Public Administration, or related field.
- Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification or ability to obtain.
- Experience working with youth sports programs.
- Experience working in rural communities or underserved populations.
- Experience developing partnerships with schools, nonprofit organizations, and community groups.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
