Full Job Description

Summary

The University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary (USML) is the major seminary and graduate school of theology for the Archdiocese of Chicago. Mundelein Seminary is one of the largest priesthood preparation programs in the United States having graduated over 4,000 students since 1926 and serving nearly 30 dioceses in the United States and abroad. In addition to the formation of priests, USML also has a School of Parish Leadership and Evangelization (SPLE) which prepares deacons and lay people for liturgical leadership, ministry and evangelization. These programs are offered onsite, online, and in hybrid modalities and in both English and Spanish.

Responsible for actively greeting and creating a welcoming professional environment for everyone.
Demonstrates and creates awareness of safety practices for self and others by adhering to safety standards for work, hygiene and food sanitation, and handling guidelines.
Sets up food lines.
Maintains order, cleanliness, and presentability.

Essential Job Functions

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Assists with set-up, tear-down, and cleaning for all social events, breaks, and catered meals.

Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
Valid Driver’s License.
Illinois Food Service Sanitation certification preferred.
1-2 years of fast food and/or cafeteria style dining experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those associated with this position.

Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently required; bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Must have strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
Can understand and follow directions.
Flexibility required with mealtimes and working hours, including the ability to work early/evening hours, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to work Monday-Friday 4:30pm-7:30pm

Work Environment – Environmental conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

Must be comfortable working in a catholic institution; genuinely support and work with others in a catholic environment.
Will be exposed to adverse weather conditions.
