Quality Assistant – Job Description

The Quality Assistant supports the Quality Department by maintaining accurate documentation, ensuring traceability throughout the shop, assisting with inspections, and supporting on-time delivery and customer communication. This role is hands-on and requires strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.

Quality Documentation

- Assist documentation required for new customer parts.

- Complete contract reviews for new and revised purchase orders.

- Assist with Corrective Action Requests (CARs) as needed.

- Support preparation of documentation for internal and external quality audits.

Schedule support

- Maintain the machine schedule.

- Upload and organize required documents, including Excel files.

- Identify opportunities to improve or build out the machine schedule to better support company needs.

Travelers / First Article / Final Inspection / Bubble Prints

- Ensure all travelers, first article reports, final inspection reports, and bubble prints are correctly uploaded and maintained in our secure the system.

- Cross-reference newly created travelers, first articles, final inspections, and bubble prints for accuracy and completeness.

Shipment Tracking & Customer Communication

- Track shipments and verify parts ship on time.

- Communicate with customers regarding late shipments as needed.

- Maintain shipment tracking spreadsheets.

- Request and review Open Order Reports from customers.

- Track and verify quarterly On-Time Delivery (OTD) percentages with customers.

- Participate in bi-weekly customer calls to review shipment status and delivery performance.

Job Packet Verification at Machines

- Verify job packets include job number, PO number, quantity, heat lot, and stamped first article.

- Review 100% inspection reports for required information.

- Review final inspection reports to ensure Job # and PO # are pre-filled.

- Confirm bubble prints are included in each job packet.

Material Identification & Storage

- Verify all material at machines is properly identified.

- Ensure all material racks are clearly labeled with barcodes or shelf tags.

Work-In-Process (WIP) & OSP Control

- Ensure all parts throughout the shop are properly identified.

- Verify travelers are completed correctly and stamped up to OSP operations.

- Monitor WIP and Ready-for-OSP shelves for proper documentation.

Final Inspection Support

- Assist Quality Inspectors during final inspections.

- Perform part sampling per customer inspection requirements.

- Input SPC micrometer data into Excel spreadsheets.

Shipping Verification

- Verify prior-day shipment travelers against finished goods inventory.

- Ensure system inventory matches physical inventory.

- File travelers after verification.

Finished Goods Control

- Ensure all finished goods are labeled with part number, job number, and quantity.

Qualifications

Applicant must complete and pass a basic background check prior to employment. Employer will also request references to call and confirm prior employment job title, duties, and length of employment. Must be able to measure using micrometers , calipers and inspect using an eye loupe. Ability to stay focused and produce high-tolerance, demanding machined components with little to no errors. Must be able to follow work instructions and feel comfortable ask questions if something is unclear. Must be able to work well with others and independently. This is a 40+ hour per week position. Position pays hourly and hourly rate depends on experience. Company offers 401k, profit sharing, and end of the year bonus. Medical and Dental benefits after 60 days.
