Company Overview
This is your opportunity to join a highly respected, fast-growing IT and AI consultancy in Orange County — and actually grow with it. This role was built for someone early in their career: a recent graduate or junior developer who wants to build real solutions for real customers, not sit in the back row. What matters most here isn't a long resume — it's passion, hunger, and a genuine love for solving problems as part of a team.
The Fabulous Junior IT Solutions Engineer helps design, build, and support technology solutions where data is at the center — connecting business applications, moving and shaping data, preparing it for AI, and turning it into insights customers can act on. This role is designed to evolve: as you grow, your responsibilities expand into new tools, new client environments, and new areas of our technology and AI practice.
The Gig
You'll spend your days building. Working alongside our lead engineers — who own architecture and design decisions — you'll implement, support, and operate solutions across our business and our clients' environments: application-to-application integrations, ETL pipelines, AI-ready data preparation, and Power BI dashboards that answer real business questions.
This isn't a heads-down, headphones-on-all-day role. Our solutions are built for customers, which means you'll be talking to them — clarifying requirements, explaining what you built in plain language, and helping non-technical people get value from technical work. If you can write clean SQL and explain what it does to a CFO, you're our kind of engineer.
We expect you to understand how programming works, know that best practices exist for a reason, and be hungry to learn the rest. Nobody arrives knowing all of this — you'll be trained, mentored, and given room to grow into it.
What You'll Do
You won't be expected to know all of this on day one — that's the point. Our senior engineers own the architecture and the hard design decisions; your job is to build alongside them, learn fast, and take on more as you're ready. Every responsibility below comes with training, mentorship, and real projects to practice on.
Build Integrations & Data Pipelines
- Help build and support integrations between business applications (CRM, ticketing, finance, and other systems) using APIs and platforms like Azure Logic Apps and Power Automate — following designs set by the senior team.
- Assist with ETL workflows in Azure Data Factory that move and shape data between systems.
- Write SQL to extract, transform, and validate data — and learn to spot when something looks off.
Help Prepare Data for AI
- Learn the emerging craft of making data AI-ready — cleaning, structuring, and tagging it so it can feed AI workloads like RAG pipelines and semantic search. We'll teach you; you bring the curiosity.
Build Reports & Dashboards
- Build Power BI dashboards and reports that answer real business questions, working from stakeholder requirements with guidance from the senior team.
Communicate & Learn
- Talk with customers and teammates to clarify what's needed, and explain what you built in plain language.
- Document your work so others can follow it — and follow the team's version control and deployment practices.
- Ask questions, take feedback, and grow your scope steadily as your skills develop.
How You'll Grow
This role is a launchpad, not a box. Here's roughly how we see it unfolding:
- First 90 days: Learn our tools, our clients, and our standards. Ship your first supervised integrations, queries, and reports with a senior engineer reviewing your work.
- First year: Own day-to-day support of integrations and pipelines you've built, deliver dashboards independently, and become a trusted point of contact for the clients you support.
- Beyond: Expand into AI-enablement work, new platforms, and bigger client projects — the scope grows as fast as you do.
What We're Looking ForRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field — recent and upcoming graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
- Familiarity with Python (or a similar language) for data manipulation and scripting.
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts and exposure to building data workflows — coursework, internships, personal projects, and hands-on work all count.
- Familiarity with APIs, RESTful services, and structured data formats (JSON, XML).
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Effective communication skills — you can explain technical processes and data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences, including customers.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail, with good judgment on moderately complex tasks under supervision.
- Genuine hunger to learn — you seek out feedback, pick up new tools quickly, and want your responsibilities to grow.
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Hands-on experience building ETL/ELT pipelines in production environments.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, or similar cloud data services.
- Experience with iPaaS or workflow automation tools (Azure Logic Apps, Power Automate, Azure Function Apps, Workato, Zapier, Make, or similar).
- Familiarity with common business application APIs (Microsoft 365, Salesforce, HubSpot, NetSuite, ServiceNow, Halo, ConnectWise, or similar).
- Exposure to AI/ML concepts — vector databases, embeddings, RAG, or preparing data for LLM-based applications.
- Experience working with unstructured data (documents, transcripts, knowledge bases) and preparing it for downstream consumption.
- Experience with Power BI Service administration, row-level security, or dataflows.
Role Characteristics
- Works under general and technical supervision with good latitude for independent judgment on implementation work.
- Regular collaboration with senior engineers, IT staff, stakeholders, and end users to deliver data-driven solutions as part of a team.
- Customer-facing from day one, with mentorship and guidance along the way.
- Scope of the role expands over time as skills develop and business needs grow — with a strong emphasis on AI-enablement work.
