We are seeking a Shop Associate to lead the day-to-day operations of our Clute-area service center. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced mechanical environment—not a traditional retail position. You'll build hydraulic hoses, assist customers with urgent equipment needs, manage inventory, maintain an organized and safe shop, and help keep operations running smoothly. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working independently. Occasional on-call responsibilities are required. Responsibilities:
Store Operations & Customer Service
- Lead day-to-day store operations to ensure efficiency, organization, and a professional customer experience.
- Serve as a key point of contact for customers, handling inquiries, service requests, and issue resolution.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and ensure timely responses to customer needs.
- Keep the store clean, organized, safe, and professional at all times.
Inventory Management
- Manage inventory levels of hose, fittings, and related components to support business operations.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment to maintain product availability.
- Conduct inventory counts and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies while supporting inventory accuracy and control.
Field Service Support
- Ensure field service vehicles are properly stocked and equipped for daily operations.
- Support field technicians with inventory requests, product identification, and operational needs.
- Help maintain efficient communication between the shop and field service teams.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and support shop employees by setting clear expectations and maintaining accountability.
- Provide training, feedback, and guidance to help team members succeed.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and employee development efforts.
- Foster a positive, professional, and customer-focused work environment.
Business Operations & Performance
- Monitor operating expenses and support cost-effective decision-making.
- Track key performance metrics, including sales, inventory performance, and operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Ownership & Accountability
- Take ownership of store performance and daily operations.
- Lead by example through professionalism, integrity, accountability, and a strong work ethic.
- Represent the company positively with customers, employees, and business partners.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical aptitude and 3-7 years experience working in a shop, service, or industrial environment
- Proven history of industrial retail sales
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to assist walk-in clients professionally and efficiently
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in timekeeping, inventory, and cleanliness
- Basic computer skills for inventory management and timesheet reporting
- Willingness to perform hands-on tasks such as hose assembly, pipe bending, and equipment upkeep
- Availability to participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours customer needs

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
