About the Role
Do you notice the tiny scratch everyone else missed? Enjoy following a clear process, checking things off one by one, and knowing exactly what "done right" looks like?
You might be exactly who we're looking for.
We're looking for a Mobile Device Grading Tech to join our Intake Team and perform the initial inspection and testing of electronics before we purchase them from our customers.
Every device that comes through our doors needs to be carefully inspected, fully tested, and accurately categorized. Your job is to determine one thing: Does the device we received match what we expected?
You'll inspect physical condition, test functionality, identify defects, and document exactly what you find. Your assessment directly impacts whether we purchase the device and how much we pay for it—which means accuracy matters.
A lot.
What You'll Do
- Perform detailed inspections of incoming smartphones, tablets, laptops, computers, and other consumer electronics
- Fully test devices using established procedures to verify functionality
- Carefully inspect devices for cosmetic damage, defects, missing components, and other issues that may impact their condition or value
- Compare what we received against the customer's original description of the device
- Accurately document your findings and assign the appropriate condition classification
- Identify inconsistencies or issues that others might easily overlook
- Follow standardized testing and inspection processes to ensure every device is evaluated consistently
- Use sound judgment when you encounter something that doesn't fit neatly into the standard criteria
- Maintain accuracy and attention to detail while processing a high volume of devices
- Meet clear, measurable productivity expectations without sacrificing the quality of your work
- Communicate with team members and leadership when unusual or recurring issues arise
- Help identify patterns and opportunities to improve our inspection and testing processes
Let's Talk About Repetition
We want to be transparent: This is a repetitive job.
You'll inspect devices. You'll test them. You'll document what you find. Then you'll move on to the next one—and do it again.
And again.
And again.
For some people, that sounds boring. For the right person, it's incredibly satisfying.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys routine, structure, and predictability. You like having a clear process to follow and measurable goals to work toward. You get satisfaction from developing a rhythm, becoming faster and more efficient, and knowing that your work is accurate and consistent.
The challenge isn't that the process changes every five minutes. The challenge is maintaining the same level of focus and attention on device #50 that you had on device #1.
If you're someone who needs constant variety and a completely different challenge every day, this may not be the role for you—and that's okay.
But if you can put your head down, get into a groove, and take pride in consistently doing something well, you'll probably feel right at home.
What We're Looking For
- Exceptional attention to detail—you notice small differences, defects, and inconsistencies that others may miss
- Comfort performing repetitive tasks and following the same structured processes throughout the day
- The ability to stay focused and accurate, even when completing similar tasks repeatedly
- A preference for clear expectations, defined procedures, and measurable productivity goals
- The ability to balance speed with accuracy in a fast-paced environment
- Strong judgment and the ability to make consistent, objective decisions based on established guidelines
- Reliability and accountability—we need people who take ownership of the quality of their work
- The ability to stay organized while processing a high volume of devices
- Basic familiarity with consumer electronics such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops is helpful, but not required—we can teach you the technical side
You Might Be a Great Fit If...
- You naturally catch things other people overlook
- You double-check your work because getting it right matters to you
- You genuinely enjoy routines and knowing what to expect from your day
- You find satisfaction in checking tasks off and watching your progress
- You like clear standards and knowing exactly how your performance is measured
- You can do something repeatedly without letting your attention to detail slip
- You enjoy getting into a rhythm and becoming more efficient over time
- You're the person who notices when something is slightly off and can't help but investigate
- You take pride in being someone others can rely on to get things right
Why This Role Matters
Your assessment is one of the most important checkpoints in our entire operation.
Before we purchase a device, we rely on you to tell us exactly what we received.
A missed defect, incorrect condition, or incomplete test can impact how much we pay for an item, its resale value, and the experience of the customer who eventually purchases it.
Your ability to stay focused, follow the process, and consistently make accurate assessments helps protect the quality and integrity of everything we do.
A Few Things We Want to Be Upfront About
Departmental Flexibility: As a growing company, our needs can change. Roles and departments may occasionally shift based on business needs, so we value team members who are adaptable and open to learning new skills.
Growth & Development: We're a relatively small company, which means traditional advancement opportunities within every department may be limited. However, we still care deeply about your professional development. After approximately one year, you'll have the opportunity to meet with leadership to talk about your goals, interests, and where you'd like your career to go next. We'll explore how we can help you build skills and take that next step—whether that's growing with us or preparing for an opportunity beyond our company.
Ready to Put Your Attention to Detail to the Test?
If you're someone who thrives with structure, enjoys getting into a productive rhythm, and takes pride in catching the details others miss, we'd love to meet you.
