The Livnas Teen Program at Empirian Therapy is seeking a compassionate, engaging, and experienced GED Academic Coach to provide individualized academic instruction to adolescents working toward earning their GED.
This is not a traditional classroom teaching position. Instead, you’ll work with approximately two students at a time in a calm, supportive environment where you can build meaningful relationships, individualize instruction, and help students gain the confidence and skills they need for lifelong success.
Working alongside our clinical and behavioral team, you’ll play an important role in helping students reach both their academic and personal goals.
Position Details
· Part-Time
· Monday–Thursday
· Approximately 2 hours per day
· 8 hours per week (32–35 hours per month)
· Compensation: $70.00 per hour
This position is ideal for:
· Retired public school teachers
· Retired special education teachers
· Experienced GED instructors
· Adult education teachers

What You’ll Do
· Teach GED curriculum in:
o Mathematical Reasoning
o Reasoning Through Language Arts
o Science
o Social Studies
· Provide individualized and small-group instruction (approximately two students).
· Assess students’ academic strengths and areas for growth.
· Develop engaging lesson plans tailored to each student’s needs.
· Monitor academic progress and prepare students for GED practice testing.
· Maintain lesson plans, attendance, and progress documentation.
· Collaborate with BCBAs and the interdisciplinary team to support each student’s individualized goals.
· Foster a structured, encouraging learning environment that promotes confidence, independence, and academic success.
· Communicate student progress with leadership and families as appropriate.

Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field preferred.
· New Jersey Teaching Certificate preferred but not required.
· Experience teaching secondary education, adult education, or GED preparation.
· Experience working with adolescents preferred.
· Experience supporting students with learning differences, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, executive functioning challenges, or behavioral needs is highly desirable.
· Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
· Experience developing individualized instructional plans preferred.
