Position: Electronics Technician Location: Lakewood Ranch FL
Pay" $23-$25 Temp to Perm
The Electronics Technician is responsible for assembling, wiring, testing, and installing electrical control panels, junction boxes, and related subassemblies in accordance with customer requirements, engineering documentation, and established quality standards. This role requires the ability to accurately interpret technical drawings and schematics; use hand and power tools safely; and perform detailed electrical and mechanical assembly work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Wire and build electrical control panels, junction boxes, enclosures, and subassemblies according to customer requirements, work orders, bills of material, drawings, and specifications.
- Read, interpret, and follow electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, assembly instructions, and other technical documentation.
- Perform point-to-point wiring and install electronic and electrical components, including PLCs, relays, indicator lights, switches, terminals, and related devices.
- Drill, tap, cut, and prepare panel materials and enclosures to mount control units and create openings for components, wiring, and instruments.
- Install completed assemblies and subassemblies into cases, cabinets, desks, and other finished enclosures.
- Use hand and small power tools, including wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, drills, and tapping tools, safely and effectively.
- Perform fabrication and finishing tasks, including deburring, grinding, and sawing, as needed to support assembly activities.
- Review completed work for accuracy, workmanship, and conformance to applicable drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Mark up or red-line documentation as needed to support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Move materials, components, and finished assemblies within the facility using hand pallet jacks and other approved material-handling equipment.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area while following all established safety procedures and work instructions.
- Communicate effectively with Engineering, Production, Quality, and other internal teams to resolve assembly, documentation, or material issues.
- Support overtime and schedule flexibility as needed to meet production requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support business and customer needs.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in control panel assembly, electrical wiring, or a related manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience with point-to-point wiring and electrical control panel assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Working knowledge of electrical current and basic electrical principles.
- Experience performing mechanical installation and electrical wiring for control panels, desks, cabinets, or similar assemblies.
- Proficiency using hand tools and small power tools to drill, tap, cut, assemble, and wire electrical panels.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Highly motivated with a dependable work ethic and willingness to learn.
Preferred:
- Technical certificate, vocational training, or coursework in electrical controls, electronics, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
- Experience assembling and wiring PLC-based control systems.
- Familiarity with engineering change documentation and red-line drawing updates.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, panel-building, or industrial assembly environment.
Notes
Hours: Standard work schedule to be determined. Overtime may be required based on production and customer needs.
Work Environment
This position works in a manufacturing and assembly environment. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, electrical components, noise, dust, vibration, and varying temperatures. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required for assigned tasks and work areas.
Physical Demands
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, use hands to handle tools and components, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday. The role requires the ability to lift and move materials, components, and assemblies as needed, with reasonable accommodations available for qualified individuals.
