Full Job Description

The California Alarm Association (CAA) seeks an experienced Executive Director to work alongside the Board of Directors to lead and support all areas of this industry group. The Executive Director and Board will work together to refine the organization’s strategic plan in order to ensure outstanding member programs and services. The Executive Director will be responsible for managing the daily operations required to successfully implement the strategic plan.

Key Responsibilities

The CAA Executive Director’s role will include, but not be limited to:

Manage all correspondence for the Association and its officers and committee chairpersons which are required in order to conduct the affairs of the Association
Develop a program to monitor state legislation that may be of interest to the Association; engage in lobbying activity at the state and local levels as directed by the officers of the Association, assist the legislative committee in the preparation, submission and passage of new legislation sought by the Association
Maintain membership records; publish membership rosters at least annually or more often as directed by the officers of the Association
Oversee membership marketing, promotion and retention activities as well as calls for dues and communications with membership resulting in an increase in membership resulting in revenue growth
Maintain an office to provide safe storge for all Association records and staffed to take calls during normal business hours.
Budget development and ongoing financial management including dues billing, collections, payment of invoices, managing banking activity, tax returns, audits and government filings
Manage all communications including notices of meetings, seminars, training programs, the monthly newsletter (The Mirror) and surveys
Arrange business meetings, general membership meetings, Board of Directors meetings and special committee meetings, this includes setting the agenda and selecting the venue, also ensuring that the venue has appropriate catering, equipment and is conducive to a successful meeting
Manage communications to prospective and current members so they are aware of any industry updates as well as meetings and seminars, this includes mailings, email, print, our website and social media
Serve as a liaison between the Association and the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association, the Security Industry Association, local chapters of the Association and other related associations
Serve as a liaison between the Association and companies which provide services to the members of the Association, such as insurance programs or other business services
Serve as a liaison between the Association and its legal counsel by screening requests for legal services from Association members and others
Solicit the participation of Associate Members of the Association in applicable trade shows
All other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors and/or the President of the Association

Required Qualifications

10-15 years of alarm industry association management experience, and / or management experience with alarm companies.
Successful track record working with Boards and Committees
Highly professional communication and interpersonal skills
Experience in all facets of event planning
Project management skills, with track record of successful completion of projects
Expertise with managing daily business operations

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year

Experience:

Alarm Industry Association Management: 10 years (Preferred)
working with Boards and Committees: 5 years (Preferred)
Event Planning: 5 years (Preferred)

Work Location: Remote
