Santa Clarita Dialysis LLC, a growing dialysis provider in Santa Clarita, is seeking an experienced and compassionate Certified Hemodialysis Technician to join our team. The Certified Hemodialysis Technician plays a key role in ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate patient care. This position works closely with the Medical Director, nursing team, clinical professionals, administrative staff, patients, and families to promote positive clinical outcomes and improve the overall dialysis experience.

Our Certified Hemodialysis Technician will lead by example, developing a team that consistently delivers individualized care while maintaining the highest standards of clinical quality, patient safety, and professionalism.
Patient Care & Hemodialysis Treatment
· Welcome patients and promote professional, compassionate, and respectful experience.
· Obtain and document pre- and post-treatment weights and other required patient information.
· Complete and document pre- and post-treatment assessments within the CHT scope of practice, promptly reporting concerns to the RN.
· Prepare dialysis stations and safely set up and operate hemodialysis machines according to facility protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
· Initiate, monitor, and terminate hemodialysis treatments under RN supervision and within the CHT's scope of practice.
· Monitor and document vital signs, treatment parameters, machine readings, and patient response throughout treatment.
· Identify changes in patient condition and promptly report concerns, symptoms, or treatment complications to the Charge Nurse/RN and physician as appropriate.
· Provide vascular access care, cannulate AV fistula, and graft sites per facility policy, training, and applicable regulations.
· Assist with catheter care and other dialysis-related procedures within the CHT scope of practice and facility protocols.
· Obtain and prepare blood specimens for laboratory testing as directed.
· Support patient comfort, safety, and dignity throughout treatment.
Infection Prevention & Patient Safety
· Follow strict infection prevention and control practices at all times.
· Perform appropriate hand hygiene and reinforce infection prevention practices with patients.
· Follow aseptic technique and proper procedures for vascular access care and cannulation.
· Use appropriate PPE and follow all Standard Precautions and facility infection control policies.
· Thoroughly clean and disinfect dialysis stations, chairs, machines, equipment, and treatment areas between patients.
· Maintain appropriate separation of clean and contaminated supplies and prevent cross-contamination.
· Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and immediately notify the RN of changes in patient condition or safety concerns.
Documentation & Regulatory Compliance
· Accurately initiate and maintain required documentation in the EMR throughout the patient's treatment.
· Document vital signs, treatment parameters, access information, interventions, patient responses, and changes in condition accurately and timely.
· Complete required facility logs, checklists, treatment records, and other documentation.
· Perform and document required water quality testing at the beginning of each shift and report abnormal results immediately.
· Follow all applicable State and Federal regulations, CMS Conditions for Coverage, facility policies, and clinical protocols.
· Report equipment, machine, water treatment, or facility concerns promptly to the RN, Facility Manager, and/or Biomedical Technician.
Equipment & Facility Operations
· Perform daily dialysis machine preparation, testing, setup, and shutdown procedures as required.
· Monitor dialysis equipment during treatment and identify and report equipment abnormalities.
· Maintain treatment areas in a clean, safe, organized, and properly stocked condition.
· Assist with inventory management and ensure necessary treatment supplies are available.
· Work collaboratively with Biomedical/Technical personnel regarding equipment maintenance and operational concerns.
· Complete assigned facility safety, quality, and operational checks.
Patient Education & Teamwork
· Provide and reinforce patient education within the CHT scope of practice, including infection prevention, access care, treatment procedures, and other assigned dialysis education topics.
· Participate in monthly patient education activities as assigned.
· Work collaboratively with RNs, physicians, dietitians, social workers, administrative staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
· Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, in-services, competency assessments, and continuing education.
· Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and respect in all interactions with patients, families, and coworkers.
Additional Responsibilities & information
· Maintain confidentiality of patient health information and comply with HIPAA requirements.
· Follow all company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and applicable healthcare regulations.
· Maintain current required certifications and competencies.
· Perform additional duties as assigned to support the safe and effective operation of the dialysis facility.
· Scheduling: Alternative work schedules may be available based on facility and operational needs
Qualifications
· California Certified Hemo-Dialysis Technician license is required.
· Dialysis experience
· High standard of customer service with excellent communication skills.
· Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
· Familiarity with aseptic technique and infection control practices.
· Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
