Full Job Description

Summary

The Senior Field Installer is responsible for the hands-on installation of custom steel windows and doors at project sites. This role performs and leads all aspects of the installation process, ensuring each unit is installed accurately, safely, and to the highest quality standards. The Senior Field Installer interprets project plans, coordinates installation sequencing with the jobsite team, troubleshoots field conditions, and maintains clear communication with general contractors and clients throughout the project.

This position requires exceptional craftsmanship, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a professional customer-facing presence. When not in the field, the Senior Field Installer assists with pre-installation preparation, hardware assembly, material staging, truck loading, and final quality inspections at the company facility to ensure projects are ready for successful installation.

Essential Functions:

Project Planning & Execution

Lead and manage the full installation process from planning through completion.
Review and interpret shop drawings and architectural plans to confirm unit placement and alignment.
Ensure all rough openings are square, level, plumb, and true prior to installation.

Installation Performance

Install windows and doors to precise standards—straight, level, plumb, and fully functional.
Identify and resolve installation challenges using the proper tools, methods, and sound judgment.
Identify, communicate, and manage punch list items to ensure full completion and quality assurance.
Perform post-installation checks to verify all units operate correctly and meet quality expectations.

Team Leadership & Supervision

Supervise, train, and mentor Helper Installers on best practices, safety, and installation techniques.
Assign daily tasks and provide on-site direction to ensure efficiency, quality, and accountability.

Client & Site Coordination

Act as the primary on-site liaison for general contractors, superintendents, clients, and fellow trades.
Represent company with professionalism, craftsmanship, and positive communication.
Communicate jobsite updates, issues, or changes to the Operations Projects Coordinator in a timely manner.
Collaboratively problem-solve field challenges with site superintendents and other stakeholders.
Demonstrate extreme attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship—installers are the face of the company at every job site.

Tools, Materials & Inventory Management

Maintain accurate inventory of tools, hardware, and installation materials.
Ensure trucks are stocked and tools are clean, functional, and accessible for each job.
Oversee use of specialized equipment including laser levels, impact drivers, hammer drills, glass cups, and more.

Safety & Jobsite Compliance

Promote and enforce safe work practices during transport, handling, and installation.
Ensure compliance with company safety protocols and jobsite requirements to protect personnel and products.

Card Use & Expense Reporting

Use company-issued credit and gas cards responsibly for business-related expenses only.
Promptly upload and report all receipts in compliance with company procedures.

Post-Installation Support

Provide field service for previously installed units, including adjustments and touch-ups as needed.
Ensure protection of all units during transport, handling, installation, and clean-up.

Competencies

Technical Skills: Advanced understanding of installation techniques, waterproofing concepts, and construction practices.
Leadership: Clear communicator, able to guide and uplift a team on-site.
Problem Solving: Quick-thinking and adaptable; able to identify problems and communicate them clearly.
Collaborative in working with site superintendents and project managers to resolve field issues.
Professionalism: Positive, respectful, and client-facing demeanor; represents the brand through detailed, high-quality workmanship.
Driving Operation: Skilled and confident in vehicle safety; forklift certified/experienced (preferred)
Experience: 5+ years installing windows and doors, carpentry, metalwork, or construction/building.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively with clients, general contractors, superintendents, and other trades on-site; bilingual in English/Spanish (preferred).

Travel & Driving Requirements

Safely operate company vehicles.
Frequent daily travel (2 – 6 hours of drive time).
50% overnight travel, often 4–5 consecutive days per week, including early morning or late-night departures.
Must possess a valid REAL ID California driver's license or U.S. passport that permits domestic air travel.
