Location: School-Based Setting (Palmdale)

Reports To: Program Manager, Mental Health Services

Pay: $28/hour

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

About the Role Are you passionate about preventative wellness and early childhood social-emotional development? Wellness Together is seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Certified Wellness Coach (ECWC) to be an integral part of a tiered mental health support system. Serving as an extension of the school's mental health specialist, you will provide direct, preventative wellness support to students (ages 2–18) while working closely with educators to enhance classroom wellness strategies. This role is key to ensuring students and staff receive proactive, timely guidance to promote long-term school success.

Key Responsibilities As an Early Childhood Certified Wellness Coach, you will focus on low-intensity interventions (Tier 1 and Tier 2 support) across several vital areas:

Direct Educator & Student Support: Conduct brief check-in/check-out meetings with assigned educators to monitor emotional states, practice coping strategies, and model de-escalation for students experiencing emotional distress. Facilitate small, skill-building groups (social skills, emotional regulation, stress management) and offer in-the-moment coaching during unstructured school hours.
Case Management & Referrals: Manage a caseload of educators receiving low-intensity student support, identify students who require higher-tier (Tier 3) mental health care to connect them to specialists, and maintain clear, accurate documentation in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and reimbursement standards.
Family & Staff Collaboration: Partner with educators to help parents reinforce wellness strategies at home, connect families with community resources (e.g., food banks, basic needs assistance), participate in campus crisis response, and attend student meetings (SSTs, 504s) as needed.
Training & Community Outreach: Help deliver mental health awareness and training for students, school staff, and families, providing bilingual translation and support as needed.

What You'll Need (Qualifications)

Education: Bachelor's/ Associate’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
Certification: Active certification as a California Certified Wellness Coach.
Experience: 1-2+ years of experience working in a school, health, or community setting, preferably with young children and adolescents ages 2–18. Experience collaborating with families, educators, and community agencies.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of early childhood and adolescent development and behavioral health issues.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build trusting rapport and maintain clear professional boundaries with students and staff.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficient in English (required); Fluent in a second language (preferred).
