Full Job Description

Overview

Join our dynamic finance team as an Assistant Controller/Staff Accountant and play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of our financial operations. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work across diverse accounting functions, including regulatory reporting, financial analysis, and team management. You will be instrumental in maintaining robust financial systems and driving continuous improvement in our accounting practices. Key Responsibilities

Manage and oversee the general ledger accounting process, ensuring accurate account reconciliation and adherence to and IFRS.
Lead the month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, and financial report writing.
Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and compliance with regulatory standards.
Conduct detailed cost accounting analysis and support budgeting processes to facilitate strategic decision-making.
Utilize advanced spreadsheets and financial software for data analysis, forecasting, and financial management insights.
Support treasury management activities such as cash flow forecasting, cash management, and banking relationships.
Collaborate with Project Managers and Partners to improve accounting systems, streamline processes, and enhance overall financial reporting quality.

Experience and Qualifications

Proven experience in public accounting or corporate accounting roles with a focus on financial reporting, technical accounting, and regulatory compliance.
Strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS, project-based accounting, revenue recognition, and work-in-progress reporting
Demonstrated expertise in overseeing complex financial processes such as month-end close, balance sheet reconciliation, and account analysis.
Proficiency with financial software systems (ERP systems), spreadsheets (Excel data analysis), and accounting systems for accurate data entry and reporting.
Excellent analytical skills combined with strong communication abilities for clear financial report writing.
Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA license, or active progress toward certification, is considered an asset
Five years of accounting experience, preferably within an architectural or engineering firm
