We are looking for a hardworking, dependable Fence Installation Helper who is ready to work outdoors, learn the trade, and become a valuable member of our team.
Position Summary
The Fence Installation Helper will assist lead installers with all phases of fence construction. This position requires someone who is physically capable of performing demanding outdoor labor, enjoys working with their hands, and is willing to learn proper construction techniques.
The primary responsibilities include digging post holes, mixing and pouring concrete, carrying materials, cleaning job sites, and assisting with fence installation from start to finish.
Primary Responsibilities
- Dig fence post holes using hand tools and power augers.
- Mix, transport, and pour concrete for fence posts.
- Set and brace fence posts to ensure proper alignment.
- Load and unload fencing materials, concrete, lumber, and tools.
- Carry fence panels, pickets, rails, posts, and other materials.
- Assist with layout and measuring of fence lines.
- Help install wood, vinyl, aluminum, chain-link, and composite fencing.
- Assist with gate installation and adjustments.
- Operate shovels, wheelbarrows, tampers, levels, string lines, post hole diggers, and other construction tools.
- Keep the job site clean, organized, and safe throughout the workday.
- Clean and maintain company vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
- Follow instructions from the crew leader and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
- Protect customer property while working.
- Work safely around underground utilities after 811 has marked the job site.
- Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures.
- Report damaged tools, equipment, or safety concerns immediately.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding construction position.
Applicants must be able to:
- Lift and carry 75-100 pounds repeatedly.
- Dig multiple fence post holes throughout the day.
- Mix and move bags of concrete.
- Work outdoors in hot, cold, rain, and other weather conditions.
- Bend, kneel, squat, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
- Use hand and power tools safely.
- Walk over uneven terrain while carrying materials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous construction or fence installation experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience with concrete is a plus.
- Ability to read a tape measure.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools.
- Valid driver's license is preferred.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to work overtime when necessary.
