General Manager

Location: Central Pennsylvania- York, PA and/or Glenrock, PA

About the Company

We are an established manufacturing company based in Central Pennsylvania with a long standing reputation for quality, innovation, and operational excellence. We operate a high-volume, made-to-order manufacturing environment requiring precision, flexibility, and operational excellence. Our teams leverage modern production technologies and continuous improvement methodologies to deliver customized solutions efficiently and consistently.

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our manufacturing operation of over 100 employees and help drive operational excellence, quality, efficiency, and long term growth.

Key Responsibilities

Senior Leadership Team

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the General Manager will help shape the company's strategic direction and overall business performance. This position partners closely with executive leadership to establish organizational priorities, drive enterprise wide initiatives, and ensure operational decisions support long term business objectives.

Responsibilities include:

Contribute to the development and execution of the company's strategic plan and annual business objectives.
Participate in executive leadership meetings, providing operational insights and recommendations to support company growth and profitability.
Collaborate with leaders across Finance, Sales, Engineering, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Product Development to align priorities and execute strategic initiatives.
Evaluate operational investments, capital expenditures, and resource allocation to support future growth.
Lead organizational change initiatives and help drive a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Develop succession plans and strengthen leadership capabilities throughout the manufacturing organization.
Serve as an ambassador for the company's values and culture.

Manufacturing Operations

Lead all aspects of daily manufacturing and production operations.
Develop production schedules that balance customer demand, capacity, and operational efficiency.
Monitor productivity, quality, labor utilization, and operational performance.
Ensure production goals are consistently achieved while maintaining high quality standards.
Drive process improvements that increase throughput and reduce waste.
Lead production supervisors across multiple departments and shifts.
Establish and monitor operational KPIs and implement corrective actions when needed.
Champion Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
Conduct regular operational audits focused on safety, quality, organization, and process compliance.

Supply Chain, Facilities, and Maintenance

Collaborate with Supply Chain leadership on procurement, inventory management, supplier relationships, and material planning.
Lead facilities and maintenance teams to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
Support capital equipment planning and facility improvement projects.
Promote a safe, organized, and well maintained manufacturing environment.

Cross Functional Leadership

Partner with engineering, product management, sales, marketing, information technology, finance, and human resources to ensure successful execution of company initiatives.
Lead operational execution for new product introductions, process improvements, and major operational projects.
Identify and eliminate workflow bottlenecks across departments.
Support workforce planning and organizational effectiveness initiatives.

Leadership

Build, mentor, and develop high performing teams throughout the organization.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and employee engagement.
Coach managers and supervisors to strengthen leadership capabilities and drive continuous improvement.
Ensure teams are aligned around operational goals and performance expectations.

Qualifications

Ten or more years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, commercial printing, industrial production, packaging, or a related environment.
Demonstrated success leading medium to large manufacturing operations.
Strong understanding of production planning, supply chain management, inventory control, facilities, and equipment maintenance.
Experience managing multiple departments and leading cross functional teams.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
Strong analytical and problem solving abilities with experience using data to drive operational decisions.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
Six Sigma Certification preferred.
