POSITION DESCRIPTION: PIANIST/KEYBOARDIST/ACCOMPANIST
Part Time
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Commitment to Jesus Christ with a heart for music ministry
2. Willingness to connect with and ability to work with church staff, musicians, and congregation
3. Musical skills on the piano to accompany a choir, congregational singing, vocal and instrument soloists, and/or small ensembles
4. Ability to follow the lead of a choir director
5. Musical skills on the electronic keyboard with experience in working with a praise team
6. Familiarity with various styles of sacred music, including traditional hymns and contemporary Christian music
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Help fulfill the mission of the church through music ministry and worship services.
2. Play piano accompaniments for the Chancel Choir and/or special music presentations during blended worship services throughout the calendar year.
3. Play piano for weekly choir rehearsals of the Chancel Choir from September through early June, as well as occasional summer rehearsals.
4. Rehearse with soloists/ensembles and accompany them on piano or keyboard during worship services as needed throughout the year.
5. Play keyboard for the Praise Team at weekly rehearsals and worship services and assist with selection of contemporary music and quality of performance.
6. Play hymns and songs sung by the congregation during worship services. As indicated by the church’s Director of Music, this music may be played on the piano in concert with the organ, on the piano alone, or on the keyboard with the Praise Team.
7. Play a piano offertory for worship services as well as soft piano music for reflection during worship, such as before and after the pastoral prayer.
8. Serve as pianist, keyboardist, and/or accompanist for additional special services and rehearsals, such as Advent, Christmas Eve, and Holy Week services.
9. Provide piano music (prelude and postlude as well as accompaniment) for worship services or special occasions when the church organist is not able to be present.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Pianist/Keyboardist/Accompanist is supervised by the Director of Music and amenable to the Senior Pastor.

Pay: Up to $8,000.00 per year
